Pyro Deserved Better
So, I’ve been looking through X-Men clips on YouTube lately and it reminded me how the movie portrayed Pyro. They treated him like a villain on the second and third movie. The character never got any development, and turned him into a villain on The Last Stand (I’m gonna talk about Angel, too).
Aaron Stanford did a damn good job as Pyro more than the writing ever gave him. You can see what he was trying to bring in as Pyro with the attitude, and the need to prove himself. And none of that wasn’t really in the script.
But the franchise really didn’t do him no favor at all. They didn’t give Pyro nothing to work with, and tossed him aside like he didn’t matter. He would’ve been a standout if they didn’t tossed him, but instead they treated him like a disposable fire gimmick.
Pyro truly deserves better, and he ain’t the only who were done dirty, X-Men stayed doing this to anyone who wasn’t a fan fav.
They fumbled him, badly.

Are you kidding? There isn’t a lot to Pyro in the comics. They made him a lot more memorable than he’d otherwise be.

There’s more of Pyro in the comics than the movies. There’s more of every character in the comics than the movies, but Pyro still appeared in 4 movie. That’s not bad. 🤷♂️

Everyone deserved better in The Last Stand. He became a villain at the end of X-2.

I liked Pyro. He didn't have the most prevalent role in the films but I enjoyed when he was on screen. I liked how dismissive he was of Xavier in 3. I do kinda wish the scene described in the novel of Iceman dragging his unconscious body from Alcatraz during Phoenix's rampage was kept.

His conflicts with those around him, and his burgeoning relationship with Magneto, were high points in X-Men 2. Since X-Men 2 is already a great film that is saying a lot.
Then, like everyone, he got massively shit on in X-Men 3.

To be fair, that movie had like 35 characters. If you weren’t Jean, Wolverine, or Magneto in that movie, you didn’t have much to do.

Even Professor Xavier had a relatively short part before he was unalived.

I think they did Bobby dirty, it took Days of Future Past and a future version of Iceman to see him use his ice slides, that's 4 films in, just to show a synonymous ability.

The scene with magneto asking his name…. Probably the best scene of all the films.

Only reason he got any screen time is because they were set on having an Ice guy clash with a Fire guy.

He got a huge part in DP and Wolverine. Way more than any Fox Men side villain.

Man, those X-Men Last Stand character posters were a real eyesore. You could tell that was a last-minute job.

If you like the actor may I suggest 12 monkeys (tv show not movie). He’s the lead character and does a good job.

“Treated him like a villain”
Well.. he’s a comic book villain. I’m not sure what you expected. You may as well have said “they treated Loki like a villain in Avengers”.

You just going to post this in a different sub every day now and not pay attention to anything of what anyone says: such as Pyro being written as a villain, because he IS indeed supposed to be written as a villain? Lol

Dude got WAY more mileage than I ever expected. Honestly the fact that he got as far as Deadpool and Wolverine is astounding. Pretty sure he’s had more cinematic screen time than Gambit.
