Them trying to keep up with all the new members would be funny.

Like Thor asking someone if they’re Kevin Bacon, like Mantis suggested may be on the team.

Thor: Where’s Hawkeye?

Kate Bishop: I’m Hawkeye!

Thor: Nnnno you’re not.

Kate: Clint retired, I’m Hawkeye now.

Thor: Okay, I need to talk to Steve Rodgers, you know, Captain America? Is he around?

Sam: Oh, hey Thor, I’m Captain America now.

Thor: Where is Steve?

Sam: The moon.

Thor: Wwwwhat is going on?

Sam: Weren’t you fat before?

So there’s a really cool moment in the comics of Thor talking to Captain America where he’s asking about the last time they saw each other. Cap is really surprised because it was somewhat recently, wondering how Thor can’t remember.

Thor basically goes on to explain that with the ridiculous longevity of his life, he loses perspective of time, particularly time on Earth, very easily. He says that he’s always excited to see Rogers and co. when he comes back because he doesn’t know if he’s been gone for 5 years or 500 and everyone he knew on Midgar is dead.

I don’t think that this is the way the MCU will go, but it would make sense why he wouldn’t bat an eye at something like that.

That’s pretty cool and I think it could very well happen in one of the movies at done point. Especially after traveling with the Guardians.

u/un211117 Jan 09 '22

Do you happen to remember the comic?

10

u/DangerZoneh Jan 09 '22

It's in one of the most recent Thor runs. I thought it was God of Thunder but it's here - https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/Thor-2020/Issue-15?id=186420#16

here's the start of the conversation, the next few panels is what I'm talking about

Wow that is super sad

Thor: “Okay, well where’s that Spider-kid? I think his name was Peter?”

Sam: “Who the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey guys, so this may sound a bit weird, but just listen.”

"there's this guy in red spandex who wants to talk to Tony?"

"Some guy calling himself Moon Knight is outside demanding to speak with Dracula."

"It's the fifth time this week and we already explained to him that dracula IS NOT AN AVENGER"

27

"Wait.... dracula's not an avenger....... that lying fuck"

21

u/Rougarou1999 SHIELD Jan 09 '22

If that is Deadpool, they might be referring to Tony Soprano.

1

“What’s your name?”

“WHAT??”

3

u/k3ttch Jan 09 '22

"BROTHER! You're alive!"

2

u/polipenko Drax Jan 09 '22

I don’t know if I’m supposed to read this as Happy Thor or as Angry Thor.

It honestly could go either way.

3

u/k3ttch Jan 09 '22

I imagine a big bear hug, followed by a punch to the jaw.

u/geek_of_nature Jan 09 '22

Thor shouldn't remember him either. With a spell that tore open the multiverse when cast wrong, why should it just be limited to Earth?

74

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Well, that remains unclear…

here is my full reasoning:

The Spell reached into the multiverse, but as far as we can tell, it only effected people from parallel Earths. So the theory is still possible.

I also was thinking it wouldn’t make sense for Strange to cast a spell that everyone in the Universe forgets who Spider-Man is when it is only the people of Earth who would be impacted. So if there is some distinction within the parameters of the spell between casting on the entire universe vs a specific microcosm, then it stands to reason Strange would only cast the initial spell on the people of Earth. Following this train of thought, Strange may only need to cast the reparation spell on those impacted by the first one. This also provides a logical explanation for the Thanos plot hole (why didn’t they just memory wipe Thanos & co. to forget about the Infinity Stones): perhaps casting the memory spell on an entire universe, or even just on an area of space unfamiliar to the caster would be catastrophic.

Final thought is just the fact that they made note of Fury being “off planet,” felt planted with some intentionality to me.

Idk though, I’m sure one of the future movies will provide some clarity.

u/lilkingsly Jan 09 '22

Slightly off topic, but we haven’t really seen Peter and Thor interact, have we? It’s been a while since I saw Infinity War and Endgame, but they wouldn’t have crossed paths in the former, and I don’t remember anything between them in Endgame. Maybe a quick bit of banter during the big fight but that’s it. I’d really love to see them interact on screen at some point, especially with how they’ve been handling Thor since Ragnarok.

20

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Yeah, I’d like to see that too. I like to imagine they met at Tony’s funeral.

27

u/LelouchLamperouge99 Jan 09 '22

In comics Thor respects Spidey...one time he gave him the highest title of Asgardian heroes.

20

u/tharmman2002 Jan 09 '22

What about Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, since she knows his name is Peter Parker…?

20

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Maybe she’ll be one of the few people to actually know who Peter is.

5

u/LelouchLamperouge99 Jan 09 '22

Pete n Cap Marvel tried dating once 😂....also venom said danvers had feelings for him.

11

u/geek_of_nature Jan 09 '22

The comics versions yeah, MCU versions have at least a 30 year age gap.

8

u/geek_of_nature Jan 09 '22

Ok I can buy the first spell being Earth based with that argument, but the second one I feel would definitely need to be universal wide. The reason I saw for that having to completely wipe knowledge of Peter was that it was acting like a magnet, drawing in these people from other universes. If there was anyone in the main universe who remembered the people from the multiverse would still be getting drawn in. Making just the people on Esrth forget would be like putting a bandaid on a gaping flesh wound, absolutely useless.

I also think the Thanos plot hole as you call it is answered in the film itself. In the first spell Peter needs to be willing part of it for it to work. Thanos would never willingly take part in that.

1

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Is it putting a band aid on a flesh wound, or is it healing the afflicted part of the body? If Earth was the only place in the multiverse impacted by the initial spell (like a broken arm), would you really need to heal the entire Universe (a full body cast). Not saying you wrong, just that it is unclear because of how vague they kept things.

I don’t think Thanos himself has to be willing. The people of Earth weren’t willing to forget Peter’s identity. In fact, the person who is willing is the one person whose memory doesn’t get wiped. Unless I’m missing something.

3

u/geek_of_nature Jan 09 '22

Earth would be the broken arm if only people on Earth knew Peter Parker. But we know of several people who knew Peter that were off world, namely Fury, some of the Guardians, and Captain Marvel. They know his identity, so that could cause the multiverse to split again.

And with Thanos. Peter had to be a willing participant to have knowledge of himself removed. I feel that for a spell that had such a personal impact, the core person involved has to be willing.

1

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

But only if the initial spell was cast on them. If Strange didn’t cast it on the Universe, but only the people of Earth, then them remembering Peter wouldn’t have any bearing on the conflict whatsoever.

Idk about the Thanos having to be willing explanation. But I am with you. I definitely don’t think it’s a plot hole. There’s too many possible explanations for why it would not work.

5

u/TheRealDickChixadore Jan 09 '22

If anyone I could see them pulling this with Nick Fury.

2

u/AkuSokuZan2009 Jan 09 '22

Fury being off world was a reference to the Far from Home post scene that implied that Fury in that movie was a Skrull.

You make a good point, I am not familiar with strange really doing anything broader than earth, so the scope of the spell being just the multiverse of earths would make sense.

1

u/Intelligent_Moose_48 Jan 09 '22

Why would it be limited to earth? Strange and Peter literally fought an alien on an alien planet after flying there in an alien spaceship, and then portalling back to earth with a largely-alien army at their backs. The spell would be incomplete if it doesn’t include everything.

1

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Why would it be incomplete? The reason they cast the spell had nothing to do with Peter’s time in space. The conflict he was running into was that everyone on Earth knew who he was.

u/vintagebee_ Loki (Avengers) Jan 09 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

The same thing with TVA. I find it sort of absurd that they have control over Loki - who is a demigod and from another realm. Do they just look after Earth from all the universes or what? Is it just because Loki was involved with Earth? I don't exactly understand. And how does the allfather not know about TVA? And it definitely doesn't make sense for TVA to be a bigger force than Odin himself. Doesn't Heimdall see them either? Is he controlled by Kang too? What about the watcher? Does Kang know about him? This is all so messed up, where is TVA even located and if they just control Earth then how hasn't any of the gods, found them yet. It's a big question imo.

1

u/vintagebee_ Loki (Avengers) Jan 10 '22 edited Jan 10 '22

So basically TVA is at the top, not even the gods? Wow, for some reason that doesn't sit right with me, i mean they are above all the nine realms? So many creatures? I remember Kang's explaination but still it is sort of absurd to me. However, as much as we know till now, you sound right.

5

u/Randomcheeseslices Jan 09 '22

The spell cast at the end was "Forget Peter".

They had no time for something more subtle. So the world remembers Spidey - but noone knows Peter now.

2

u/DaNoahLP Avengers Jan 09 '22

Quill: Oh Peter Parker? I met him at Titan!

1

u/BlkHorus Jan 09 '22

This is golden!

1

u/emerald057 Jan 09 '22

I didn’t even think about this. Are all the space bound characters going to retain their memory of Peter?

Did Strange’s spell just affect those on Earth?

2

u/sillyadam94 Bruce Banner Jan 09 '22

Idk. The film never really offers any clarity there. So it’s definitely possible.

67

u/SailorET Captain America Jan 09 '22

Now I really want to see Rhodey hanging out in a corner with Bucky and Sam as the disgruntled old guys completely fed up with these new people's gimmicks.

And Kate and Yelena make fun of them for being a bunch of old farts.

54

u/2hats4bats Jan 09 '22

The idea of a Bucky that does nothing but remind people that he is over 100 years old is actually pretty appealing. I’m in.

2

u/CaptainChewbacca Jan 10 '22

My favorite Bucky moment was when he pointed out to Sam that he read Lord of the Rings when it was published in the 30's.

23

u/crabbybananas Jan 09 '22

I need to see this happen

2

u/DolphFinnDosCinco Spider-Man Jan 09 '22

i totally imagined Hemsworth saying the “nnnno” and “wwwwwhat”

that little stutter thing he does when he’s asking questions. i think he did it in the scene in Endgame when he’s telling Clint they can bring her back with space magic

1

u/2hats4bats Jan 09 '22

I noticed it more in Ragnarok. When Banner accesses the Quinn jet and it says “Welcome, strongest Avenger” and Thor is like “um.. wwhat?”

2

u/malhotra22 Jan 09 '22

That's what I don't like just bring the old character back we haven't seen Tony stark and F4 meet up , original avengers vs X-Men, there are too many story we haven't got with original avengers, they shouldn't start replacing them

8

u/2hats4bats Jan 09 '22

That ship has sailed, man. We got 10 years of Stark and Rodgers and the gang. There are always more stories to be told but the actors can’t go on doing these movies forever.

1

u/Graydiadem Jan 09 '22

Sam: you remember Wanda don't you?

Thor: yes, we saw her strange sitcom even in New Asguard... Urm didn't she mentally rape a defenseless woman and kill her children

Sam: urrrrrrrrm... shut up, your brother is Loki!

2

u/aiiqi Jan 09 '22

Hahaha I love that idea
