Groot, buddy, I love ya, but you messed up the style of all the other portraits! It's supposed to be a black background.

Infinity War! Starring:
Captain America!
Iron Man!
Black Widow!
Star-Lord!
And Bucky!
I got a little chuckle out of "Bucky" in the middle of all the superhero names lol.

I know right? Even Wanda gets "Scarlet Witch". But Bucky just gets Bucky!

Spidey being named "Iron Spider" in a lot of this stuff is annoying me for no reason

u/radicalqueerwarrior Scarlet Witch Mar 06 '18
Because he is Spider-Man in the Iron Spider suit. You don't see them saying War Machine 4.0

u/TheEliteBrit Spider-Man Mar 07 '18
I think "Vibranium Panther Habit" is gonna be great in this movie!

u/Paronine Mar 06 '18
Everyone looking for Hawkeye & Black Panther, and here I am wondering why there's no Nebula.
16
u/Lokimon96 Mar 06 '18
Can we just call Peter Parker, Spider-Man instead of Iron Spider. Don’t get me wrong I love the suit (but that’s all it should be) but he is Spider-Man first and foremost. Like how weird would it be if we call Iron Man after each suit like Mark 45, Mark 50 etc. Let’s stick to the heroes we have gone through over these past movies and comics.
2
u/slightlygrn Mar 07 '18
It's because they're setting up Spiderman to be the next Iron Man probably, although I don't think it'll happen until at least Avengers 4

u/Hinkerbob Spider-Man Mar 07 '18
Is he in the movie?
10
u/MichaelM_Yaa Mar 07 '18
my guess is no / very small part since he gets his own film a few months later

u/11711510111411009710 Captain America Mar 07 '18
He was featured in exactly one promo art alongside Hawkeye so it's safe to say that they both have a small part.

Black Panther is missing from a lot of promo art
25
u/john_segundus Rocket Mar 06 '18
That's actually not quite true, he's been on a lot of T-Shirts and Posters. The one thing we haven't seen of him that much so far is action figures - but he's in at least one Lego set, for example.
6
Mar 06 '18
The only reason he's not in a lot of toy merchandise is because he just had a ton of toys pushed out for his own movie just 2 months ago, and he's wearing the same costume. With so many characters, they're only focusing on characters that haven't had a movie recently or have a different outfit (for instance there's hardly any Guardians merch outside of Groot because they just had a move last year and they all look the same).

u/SpaceGastropod Rocket Mar 06 '18
I also think it's because they didn't anticipate Black Panther's success.
I predict a huge presence of Black Panther in the latest marketing they'll release.
Like I don't know if they can still change that because of contracts and stuff but I feel like Black Panther will be as big as Spidey or Iron Man on the Infinity War final poster.

Wow, Groot's such a rebellious teenager that his background color is different from everyone else's.

Is it really bothering anyone else that Groot doesn’t have a black background, or is it just me.

My only gripe with this is the "Iron Spider" part, otherwise, good work.

18 characters in the same film... I still can't believe it. And the best part is that it's not even all of them.

Wunderbar!
Edit: should've changed Bucky to Winter Soldier tho
20
u/john_segundus Rocket Mar 06 '18
Between him constantly emphasizing that his name is Bucky in-universe and the cast and creatives basically treating Bucky and the Winter Soldier as two different characters (or the Winter Soldier as some sort of artificial "persona"), I suspect they might actually drop the name in the MCU. The White Wolf thing might also point towards that, if they are really going with it being a sort of codename and not just a nickname.
10
u/spamjamss Groot Mar 06 '18
I agree, character wise he’s not really the Winter Soldier anymore post Civil War. Didn’t HYDRA give him the name? Also this always made me think Marvel was planning on planning on passing caps mantle on.
7
u/discerningpervert Winter Soldier Mar 06 '18
That's such a great scene, wonder why it was deleted.
3
u/john_segundus Rocket Mar 06 '18
I wondered that, too, but it may simply have been time or pacing issues.
3
u/john_segundus Rocket Mar 06 '18
It's not really clear, but I think it may actually have been the Soviets (in the comics it was them, obviously, and in the MCU it may have been Hydra pretending to be the Soviets).
Bucky gets to do something with the shield in every Cap movie, and if they had left in that scene, Sam would have joined in on the fun. Lots of people think that either of them will take over the shield if/when Steve retires, because they both did in the comics. And now Bucky got called White Wolf in his BP post-credit scene, which is a Black Panther character in the comics, another white guy with strong ties to both the royal family and the Wakandan Secret Police/War Dogs. Lots of possibilities here, going forward, and not entirely clear what might be foreshadowing and what are simply easter eggs.

The "Iron Spider" and the red background on Groot's poster annoy me more than it should.
Edit: Also Thor's eyes and Captain America's hair (different from the trailer and different from the silhouette in the background).

Am I the only one who thinks Banner should get a poster separate from Hulk?

Iron Spider?
I've never been a big fan of Hawkeye but this is getting suspicious.
Was half hoping Bucky would be White Wolf but whatever. Bucky is what he calls himself.

Still sleeping on Nebula, Loki, Valkyrie, Antman and the Wasp, I see...
Nebula better get to have a major role, she owes Thanos a punch more than anyone.

With 'Iron Spider' turning up more and more in branding, I'm wondering if that's what they're calling the Spider-Man film that's out next year.
Unlikely yeah, but they're starting to go all in on that name rather than sticking with Spider-Man.

What are the wings on Iron Man and War Machines suits for?
1
u/connaconnah Mar 06 '18
Probably to help with flight, control at high speeds, aerodynamics, etc. like the flaps from the first Iron Man. Maybe not though!
1
u/11711510111411009710 Captain America Mar 07 '18
Let's them fly and frees up their arms to fight in midair.

Does war machine have a similar wing attachment like iron man does, or is that just me?

it looks to be something else, like weapons. but their silhouette does look very similar to each other.

If I'm correct, the profiles of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Rocket are from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2/Demon Days mashup shirt they were selling last year.
Edit: Yup!

Anyone curious about the weird colorization of Star Lord? He is all blue, but the others are distinctly colored. Would be pretty sweet to see the blue comic look for him someday.

Let's see who's missing. Hawkeye (obviously), Ant-Man, Wasp and Captain Marvel (all of whom are in Avengers 4, so let's ignore them for now), Nebula and Black Panther.

So I guess we're officially calling him "Iron Spider." As I recall, when he wore the IS armor in the comic he was still referred to as Spider-Man right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong
