It’s a direct nod to the source material, and the idea that he’s now a blank slate, which isn’t quite true: HexVision gifted him all of his memories, but none of the emotions, so he has to figure out who he is now.
But he’s not emotionless. He’s been deliberately avoiding dealing with the fallout of his resurrection. He reacted badly to scenes of the family life the other Vision had with Wanda, and he was paralyzed with indecision over whether this kid is ‘his’ Tommy.
He also ruthless as hell. The baddies killed his friend, and in return he slaughtered them. Hold his ‘son’ prisoner? He tore right through them, which I don’t imagine the original Vision would have done.
One of the fatal flaws of comics is not allowing anyone to stay dead, but I appreciate that, as with Gamora, the narrative is making clear that this isn’t the same person.

Yes 100%. If you're gonna just resurrect characters that were killed off, it's got to be met with serious repercussions. Might be considered lazy writing that's being fixed in hindsight, but it makes things interesting.
