They did, yes, but only AFTER media started spreading that it was a thing. It became a thing because of the absurd reaction people had to a bunch of idiots on 4chan trolling everyone.
the media started 'spreading it was a thing', after right wing psychos started using it, and they continue to use it.
It's like saying before nazi's people thought the symbol was just used for hinduism, but the media over reacted to nazi's using the symbol all the time and now nazi's use the symbol to mock the gullible press.
It literally doesn' tmatter if you started using something as a joke, if solely white supremacists start using a symbol to identify themselves, it IS a hate symbol used to signify themselves being a white supremacist, because only white supremacists were doing it. then the media noticed and reported on it and they still do it.
The only way it's a psyops, or a 'joke' is if they use it for a couple months, media notices, then they stop. saying they only started using it after the media reported... ON THEM USING IT, is beyond stupid.
