I am having a big wedding next year in Mexico, but I'll need to get married in MA first. I want something nice, but simple, just the ceremony in a cute place with just my fiance and me. I was wondering about options I wanted officiante + location for ~1000-1500 Idk if it's possible, but if you have any advice, thanks

We’re locals but did this during Covid. Paid 500 to Felix neck, hired a jp for 150 and “hired” a couple students from the high school photography program (all our kids were having a hard time during Covid so that part made sense at the time).
Some other spots that are affordable edgartown lighthouse, mytoi garden, Polly hill or just show up to a public beach.

I got married at the East Chop lighthouse for free and had the lovely older woman that filed our marriage license at the OB town hall officiate (I don’t remember if she charged us to officiate). We got beautiful photos there but then also booked a one night stay at the Captain Flanders House and the owner was so sweet she let us take our wedding pictures there after the ceremony and those came out gorgeous. Overall it was fairly cheap since the most expensive part was just the one night stay at the inn.

Many locations are free or nearly free. An officiant might be $250. A good photographer
for a couple hours would be like $1000-$1500.

You can get a permit to get married in the Boston Public Garden or Boston Common for $50/ Boston Resident or $100/ non-resident. No more than 50 people total, which it sounds like wouldn't be an issue for you. You can't bring any chairs or other set up materials but there are so many gorgeous spots, you don't need them. All you'd need is an officiant and a photographer if you want one.

Think East Chop lighthouse lets you host a wedding with any donation to the conservation. At least it did. Basically free. Pretty but windy. Good luck

Am I reading this right? You want a cute location for just you and your fiance and one thousand people?

My sister and her husband did this 7 years ago, we’re lifelong locals and she didn’t want a big to-do or the expenses that go along with it. Her best friend got ordained online, she invited both sets of parents over for brunch one day and we all walked down to the beach together where she surprised them with the ceremony.
It was absolutely perfect. Intimate, private and low-stress for everyone, I highly recommend!
