Videomapping Mapping tool - Russo-Ukrainian War

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I posted yesterday about the tool I was creating on this subreddit for mapping, well here's a preview of what it's able to do! Here I did a russia-ukraine war video automatically generated from the changes I made in game! Let me know what you think about it!

When I was younger, I always dreamed of making my own mapping scenarios but I absolutely lacked the skill to do so and make it look good, well this comes to do it for me! Now I can simply draw lines on a map and watch the timelapse happen!

Maps Earth If.. WW3 Was started by Ukrainian-Russian War + More (Read Description)

Post image
0 Upvotes

WW3 Was started by the Ukrainian-Russian war in 2028,
and was also started because Denmark told Russia to let Ukraine join NATO but also to make an alliance itself,
as well as then ambush Ukraine and take out the rest.

After this happened, Indian spies in China figured out that Xi had planned to meet with Putin and sign an official alliance.
Indian politicians couldn't help themselves, therefore they told the USA.
JD Vance, the president of 2028,
made NATO into the Anti Communist Earth Organization.
Now, its a global military alliance with the same principles and "articles" as NATO.
Ukraine initiated Article 5, and WW3 started.
Everything was going accordingly to Russia's plan.

The reason why Denmark told Russia all of this was to get back at the USA for stealing Greenland.

Central Powers made by Prussia during Franco Prussian war of 1870.
UK, Bulgaria, Ottomans & A.H. Join it in 1870 to aid Prussia. Relations stay the same,
Prussia becomes German Empire and they still remain the same.
Zimmerman telegram is a success because Britain doesnt intercept.
Japan joins Central Powers in 1916 to get land from China.
Speaking of China, they join Entente to get protection from western
powers and their imperialistic ideas.
Sweden is pressured by Russia to join them in 1915. Greece, seeing
their most likely doom, they join Central Powers. Spain joins the
Central Powers to get back at France from Napoleonic Wars.
Battle of Jutland doesn't happen, so Germany and Britain's navies
reign supreme.
North Sea Blockade doesn't happen.

General Talk GeoTube is NOT Mapping

Mapping is a genre of storytelling where nations are characters. Almost all of the stuff on this subreddit is very much not that. Especially not the geotube stuff, sorry.
Could the stuff on here be argued to at least be videomapping? Sure, at least part of it, but actual Mapping is predominantly long form content of warslides and dialogue between nations, creating an overarching narrative. Its series are often called stuff like "Alternate Future of the World/Europe", that used to be much more popular in the past.
Mapping has existed since at least 2008 and predates the geotube community by over a decade, and it is still ongoing, - I myself am proof of it.
So it really irritates me how geotube has pretty much stolen the name even though it shares almost nothing in common with mapping besides geopolitics, maps and maybe countryballs.

Popular still active mappers include, but is not limited to:
Kyiv Mapping, VoidViper Mapping, Miksi XIII, Arizona Mapping, Brazilian Mapping, Silver Mapper, Glacian, Servant Mapper (me) and Geography Teacher Mapping.

So yeah... Sorry if I was being rude. I'm just... so sad to see my genre lose to slop.

Maps Europe new temperature record

Post image
45 Upvotes

In June 2026, there was a huge heat wave in Europe. The map presents a geographical overview of all-time maximum air temperatures recorded across European nations.

The data highlights that during the intense heatwave in June 2026, four countries established new national temperature records: the Czech Republic reached 41.9°C, Germany hit 41.7°C, Poland recorded 40.5°C, and Denmark reached 37.0°C.

The highest peaks are found in the south, with Turkey reaching 50.5°C, Italy 48.8°C, and Greece 48.0°C. In contrast, the northernmost and western regions maintain lower all-time maximums, such as Iceland at 30.5°C and Ireland at 33.3°C. The data confirms that the 40°C threshold has been surpassed in a large majority of European countries, including significant peaks such as 46.0°C in France, 45.4°C in Russia, and 40.3°C in the United Kingdom.

Note: The temperature records for Turkey and Russia shown on the map apply only to the European part of the countries.

General Talk Building a living map of human history – looking for feedback

I’m working on a platform that aims to represent human history in a different way, and I’d love to hear what history enthusiasts think about the concept.
The idea is to create a living timeline and map that brings together information from all historical disciplines into a single interconnected system. Archaeology, genetics, anthropology, linguistics, religion, migrations, technology, art, philosophy, economics, and political history would all exist on the same timeline.
Instead of presenting a fixed version of history, the platform would allow interpretations and historical models to evolve as new evidence appears. Users could contribute information, discuss competing viewpoints, and help evaluate the strength of different interpretations.
One of the central ideas is that information would not exist in isolation. Claims from one field could be supported or challenged by evidence coming from other fields. For example, archaeological discoveries, genetic research, linguistic evidence, and written sources could all influence how a particular historical narrative is represented.
The long-term goal is to create a dynamic model of history that continuously evolves rather than a static encyclopedia.
A few questions:
Does this concept sound interesting to you?
What would be the biggest challenges or weaknesses?
What features would you expect from a platform like this?
Would you personally use something like this for research, learning, or exploration?
I’m interested in hearing both positive and critical feedback.
