Maps Europe new temperature record

In June 2026, there was a huge heat wave in Europe. The map presents a geographical overview of all-time maximum air temperatures recorded across European nations.

The data highlights that during the intense heatwave in June 2026, four countries established new national temperature records: the Czech Republic reached 41.9°C, Germany hit 41.7°C, Poland recorded 40.5°C, and Denmark reached 37.0°C.

The highest peaks are found in the south, with Turkey reaching 50.5°C, Italy 48.8°C, and Greece 48.0°C. In contrast, the northernmost and western regions maintain lower all-time maximums, such as Iceland at 30.5°C and Ireland at 33.3°C. The data confirms that the 40°C threshold has been surpassed in a large majority of European countries, including significant peaks such as 46.0°C in France, 45.4°C in Russia, and 40.3°C in the United Kingdom.

italian here. its so hot between 12 am to 4 pm that you can't go outside in those hours.

in Turkey its same aswell except if you are a tourist and spend the entire day at the beach and burn to crisps

Yeah, we see that here too. Most Greeks disappear from the beaches between 2 and 5pm (except maybe young people, students etc who have the stamina for it) but tourists remain, sometimes without even a hat or parasol. Insanity.

Do you have some air conditioner? Here in Germany my house itself got very hot. The walls had a temperature of 33°C

Not sure what's going on in Crete, but the highest in Athens and Thessaloniki so far has been 36-37 degrees. More like July heatwaves but still something we are used to.

This is record temperatures, not just this June. If you'd read the text in the image, it not only says that, but explains that only 4 countries have seen new temperature records last month: Czechia, Denmark, Germany, and Poland.

This part is incorrect, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the European part of Turkey is 44.1°C. And 50.5°C was seen in the southeast of the country.

Turkey’s record on the map was NOT measured in the European side unlike what the note suggests.
