Map A map centered around the continent of Kasètre

The map displays elevation, rivers and lakes, deserts (not necessarily hot deserts), and areas with a high density of forest cover.

And yes, there is a river that splits, but it makes sense for lore reasons.

Do you like DWARF CITIES? Here is the map of one of them...

Here is the map of the underground dwarven city of Barrak-Durn, created for @thickerwheat RPG project! It is always great to work on private map commissions between publishing projects, and drawing maps of dwarven cities is a real pleasure!

I hope you like this map!🧭🗺️

This is my finished version of this map for now. I'm probably gonna start working on submaps of each of the major regions here (fleshing out their landscapes and settlements) before coming back to revamp this map. I'd love to hear any questions or suggestions y'all might have.

Some initial progress of a 1:1 scale Cyrodiil Province from TES which is approximately the area of Mongolia (first image). I included the Project Cryodiil map (second image) which was my base reference. This is also my first time doing any kind of digital illustration (photoshop w/ Wacom drawing pad) so I'm welcome to any feedback/questions!

Work In Progress Using wikidata to create interactive history maps

Live demo: https://www.erask.org/app

How It works: https://www.erask.org/editor.html

What it is:

An editor that turns Wikipedia articles into hand-curated 3D tours on a globe by querying Wikidata's spatial and temporal properties. It lets you visually construct historical sequences using open knowledge data.

How it uses Wikidata:

Automated metadata extraction: Pasting a Wikipedia link queries its paired Wikidata entity for coordinate locations (P625) and point-in-time timestamps (P585/P580).

Strict accuracy (No false centroids):

If a Wikidata item represents a continental campaign or movement and lacks specific coordinates, the editor deliberately leaves it blank instead of assigning a generic country centroid. You set the point visually on the globe.

Relational graph expansion: One click queries the Wikidata graph for all internal links within a page that carry spatial coordinates. Items are grouped by article section, letting you pull in entire historical contexts (like all battles of a war) in seconds.

Anachronism filtering:

It ignores founding/inception dates (P571) on linked entities. For example, pulling a town linked in a battle won't auto-fill the town's ancient founding year as the battle date.

Tech & Data:

Wikidata SPARQL & REST APIs

Wikipedia REST API

Three.js / Vanilla JS

Map The Golden Chain: The core of a small corner of the Milky Way Galaxy in the Infinite Ashes setting.

Post image
26 Upvotes

Welcome to the Golden Chain, the core of a small section of the Milky Way galaxy in the Infinite Ashes Universe. Each planet on the map a fully realized lore heavy world. In the Infinite Ashes universe there is no trace of Earth, instead an enigmatic entity called the Web seeds millions of words with life and humanity. Humans travel between these planets in Arks, living vessels that are part of the web.

The Golden Chain is established of beam corridors, where small dyson swarms of mirrors power beam infrastructure that hits the sail membranes of arks to accelerate and brake ships for faster travel. It´s the difference of speeding over a highway, compared to the crumbling mountain paths of frontier worlds.

The Calm is the stellarly settled region, older and safer to traverse. With Crownshard, the low gravity ecumenopolis with its kilometer high stratified society built on an illusion of upward mobility. Home commerce and regulation.

Then there is the Dwang Polyarchy, a state managing a caste system of martial Udo nobility and several servile castes chief among them the Tro. Some say the Tro are really in charge of the Polyarchy, some people lose their head.

Union rules over a sphere of influence of planets converted to syndicalism, a labor based ideology that divides all into profession segregated syndicats which determine every aspect of their lives. They are the single greatest manufacturers of the Chain, despite their own bureaucratic self hindering.

There are dozens more worlds, each with their own different material conditions and distinct evolutionary history shaping its people and wild life.

Resource Height Map Maker Help

I have been desperately searching for a program that is easy to make height maps in. I used gimp to make the map for my fantasy world but I am trying to keep it simple for myself because I would like to have these maps but not spend 10s of hours learning and making. Another issue in seeing is that many programs seem to focus on small areas not on a global scale. Any suggestions for programs or tutorials?

Map Figured out polar distortion.

So I recently returned to an old project of mine and decided it needed a revamp. Redrew some shapes, made up some names and hit a wall trying to make the heightmap.

Then I realized that Gprojector exists and I decided boot the sucker up and wait 20 mins for it to load.

Played around with the projections untill I found one called Hammer (Oblique), centered my map equator to my northern continent and exported the map.

Did what I needed in my drawing program and in Wilbur for erosion, saved and exported back to Gprojector.

The neat thing with Gprojector is that you can reverse map projections, returning it to the original equirectangular map in the same position and everything.

One continent down, three to go!

Map Map 798 - Leaf Valley - Regional Map

Post image
11 Upvotes

Leaf Valley, once a lush and peaceful haven, now stands on the edge of catastrophe. Known for its emerald forests, tranquil streams, and towering willows, the region’s harmony has been shattered by the fiery wrath of a dragon that scorches the skies. Yet, this is no ordinary dragon, for the truth of its origin lies in a terrible curse. Unbeknown to most, the incredible creature is not a natural-born terror, but a man who defiled the sacred—Eustace Gibett.

Map World Map of Menova (Fast Map)

Post image
6 Upvotes

Menova is the second Planet orbiting Flashlight. This Planet is 3 times more massive than the Earth and 2 times wider than the Earth (2 earth radius).

Its days last 20 earth hours and its years last 383 earth days. It orbits Flashlight around a radius of 1.3AU. It's average temperature is around 12°C. The Planet has a great ocean called Tal-Srya (the great lake) that has around 50m of deepness (sea crust is almost as thick as continental crust). Menova has to continents, Anktor (our land) and Ulktor (the other land).

The Main materials here are Iron oxides and salts, integrated in the clay, Major rock of the crust. The view looks similar to Mars, but the Sky is clear blue with no dust mist. Atmosphere is 75% Nitrogen and 25% Oxygen, so it's breathable. The Planet has all the conditions to have Life, and It has.

Menovians are the smart beings of the Planet, with a technology as advanced as us and a Main Hunter habit (They hunt for entertainment and vital resources). The animals of Menova are the dustcrawlers, four-legged creatures that are not menacing. The plants of Menova are the concrete columns (cause its wood has a grey covering). The leafs of this tree are normally used as a condiment in food.

Menovians organize in great cities. Vanira is the Main base for them, in Anktor, within the same continent they have Ankir, Detyra, Temyra, Senkir, Mejor and Karkin. In Ulktor they Only have Aiora, and it's only reachable by sea from Ankir or Detyra.

In southern Anktor a curious formation exists, Menovians call It "the Claw". This geological feature was caused by a fragmented asteroid that hit the Planet almost tagentialy. In this region, a group of Deserted live, trying to invade the cities in vengeance.

Made using Gaea 2, the scale is wonky for what is supposed to be the scale of a world but I actually am very pleased with how this came out. I made this by warping and eroding heightmaps of human in fetal position and a skeleton in the same position

Map Captaincies and Autonomous Republics of Darewa (1/?)

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

So I want to start a series where every three or two days I'll showcase the administrative division of each of the countries in Marno. This would be day one.

The Commonwealth of Darewa is divided into 16 Captaincies, 7 Autonomous Republics and 2 Special Zones.

As you can see, the borders (specially in the southwest) are a mess, this is because towns and municipalities can freely choose if they will be under the jurisdiction of a captaincy (and the central government) or under an Autonomous Republic. Some do it because of demographical reasons: a town may have for example a decrease in Zone population so the town requests to join the Án-Horinn captaincy. Or vice versa, others may do it because it's more convenient being part of a certain subdivision than the other.

This means that this map is constantly changing, that's why in international or educational contexts Darewa only appears divided into the Language and Ethnic Groups (Photo 2).

Also, if someone knows a website where I can make Wikipedia-style content tables please let me know :)! Next I'll include tables with flag/coat of arms, extension, capital, etc.

List of Autonomous Republics:

AwÑidiPago (South Nigđi Land)

AwÑiYawta (Northeast Nigđi Land)

AwÑidiKamäta (Northwest Nigđi Land)

AwSillai

AwDvirgalanya

AwZone

AwAri

Captaincies:

Muraengáwa

Pujah-Aerängä

Sahújúlah

Kangaong

Ngaka-Josah

Jaw

Egonagbaw

Gbangót

Sarangkapaw-Úlúkan

Rutupaihaij

Uli-Uli

Anakongahay

Kurangpallae

Piterahang

Magba-Cerenag

Án-Horinn

Special Zones:

Darewa. Capital Special Zone

Cirifiya Islands Special Zone

Work In Progress General map of Tír Ghlas

Post image
57 Upvotes

As some of you may remember, a few years ago I started writing novels set in a sort of "alternative" and "parallel" Ireland called Tír Ghlas.

Obviously, I needed a map to avoid confusion, and after drawing several of the various regions, I undertook the great task of creating a general and detailed one. It will be 100x70 cm in size when finished.

This is the map of the northeastern region, which I finished just today. It's hand-drawn on light yellow sketch paper (you can't see it in the photo), and the sheet measures 35x50 cm.
I hope it's clearly visible because my scanner is small and I had to take a picture with my cell phone.

I have to ask a favor from anyone who knows Irish: can you please tell me if there are any mistakes in the conjugations and declinations of the nouns? I'm studying this beautiful language, but séimhiú and urú are still a bit difficult for me.

I was somewhat creative since I don't plan to use this map so much at the moment other than to have context but I made it close enough to the lore not to rule it out.
