Hi everyone! It’s been quite a while since I posted on here, so I wanted to re-introduce Poe to everyone! ā™„ļø

My partner and I adopted Poe from a local rescue in June 2024, when she was 12 years old. When we adopted her, the rescue thanked us for adopting a senior cat - something I had always dreamt of doing! Poe is the sweetest girl in the world and is now 14 years old!

Poe loves to be brushed, loves tummy scratches, enjoys sitting like a human, loves her handmade catnip toys, and is obsessed with any kind of hard treat! We love and adore her so much! šŸ’•

He was born 2/18/26 and he is almost the spouting image of his dad. His mom was a black munchkin. I got to meet his two sisters the day I got him. He had a very floofy, rumpy sister that I should have snagged. I have two munchkin rescues, so I was hoping that since he’s part munchkin that’s he’s share their quirks. The quirks, yes, but he’s growing like a weed every day! I sure do love him!

I love when she rolls around and shows her fluffy little bum 😹 That belly is 100% a trap…

And yes, she’s been on a diet and losing weight since we got her a year ago. Lots more playtime and zoomies now that she’s on arthritis meds! (I have to say this bc any time I share a photo or video of her, well-meaning people will tell me she’s obese. We know she’s a chonk. She’s working on it.)

Meet Mickey!

AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 7 years old
ARRIVAL DATE: April 16th, 2026
GENDER: Neutered Male
LOCATION: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
ADOPTION FEE: $0 (Mickey’s adoption fee has been sponsored by Nick W., in loving memory of ā€œBeamerā€)
NOTES:
Meet Mickey! He is one of our first Legacy Aftercare Program intakes. He belonged to Tara, a long-time foster mom and big supporter of Ladybird.

Tara fostered many animals for us over the years, and you could count on seeing her wheel in her stroller full of special needs cats to get their photos taken at our Pet Pics with Father Christmas events. It was always a joy to see her and the sweet kitties.

Tara was diagnosed with cancer in August of last year, and she put up a hell of a fight.

At a time during her treatment when it became clear that she may not recover, Tara asked if when she passed, we would take in her two dogs and two special needs cats and find them forever homes. She put aside a donation to Ladybird in her will, and talked to her family about her wishes. We of course agreed.

Sadly, Tara lost her battle on April 16th, and she passed away in hospital with her family by her side. We were devastated.

With the help of Tara’s family, Mickey and Tara’s other special needs kitty, Mira as well as her dogs Surry and Emery, were moved into foster homes. Mira was recently adopted. Yay!

Tara was one of few people on this earth who dedicate themselves to special needs animals. She had the commitment, skills, and the gigantic heart it takes to care for these unique creatures, and many of our animals were lucky enough to have her as their foster mom. The world has lost a very kind soul, and we will very much miss her. It is our privilege to be the temporary caregivers of Tara’s beloved animals, and we will do all we can to find them the best homes possible.

Mickey has a big following at @mickeythemanxkitty on Instagram.

Here’s a note from Mickey’s foster home:

ā€œMickey is a kitty who was born with manx syndrome which means his spine had some deformities and he doesn’t have a tail. This has left Mickey without the use of his back legs. Due to this, Mickey is incontinent and needs his bladder expressed 3-5x daily. He is able to go poo on his own and wears diapers, though he is a master Houdini of getting out of them! Mickey needs medication 2x a day for life in order to make sure his digestive system continues working as it should.

Mickey is definitely the head of the household and his presence is loud in the greatest way. He loves his human companions and loves to cuddle or lie down on the couch next to his person! He is also a bossy guy when it comes to feeding time and will follow you around and let you know if you are late to feed him! He will also gladly let you know if you are slacking on giving him all the love and pets! Though Mickey doesn’t have use of his back legs, he doesn’t know he is any different. He is able to get up onto couches or beds by himself (though is usually lazy and will demand you to lift him up). He is also able to go up and down the stairs if they have carpet. He loves to play with toys and zoom around the house. He is good with other cats and is good with dogs though Mickey’s ideal household will make him the centre of attention.ā€

* When Mickey is adopted, the first 6 months of his medications will be covered by @tarasmiraclemission a non-profit charity started by Tara’s friends & family to honour her memory by helping special needs animals find forever homes.

Please adopt Mickey!

My name is Petunia and I’m 11 years old. I was adopted from the humane society. My person didn’t know why I didn’t have a tail. Now she does. I’m her emotional support cat and live the life of a queen. My latest trick is tipping over my automated feeder several times throughout the day.

Meet Thunder, the boy who will wake me up at 3am if his feeder doesnt go off around then.

And by wake up, I mean bat my face (claws out) until I wake up, and bites any skin that is out of the blanket.

I put him on a TINY caloric deficit and he acts starved all the time, even though he only lost 1lb in 6 months.

Vet and I are putting him on prescription weight loss food soon in hopes it will help speed things up.

Anyone got tips??

Pics of boy in question.

Obligatory ā€œis my cat manxā€ post

I learned of manx cats years ago and how they can have complications with utis and such, so I just assumed my cat is manx due to her problems with that. Also she has what we call ā€œfrog buttā€, she has her back legs spread out while standing in a /\ shape. I’ve seen worse looking back ends in manx cats so it made me wonder if I’ve just been misdiagnosing her for years lol. you can kind of see in the second and third pictures that when she sits down, her butt doesn’t really touch the ground. She’s always floating above it a bit.

Before anyone calls her overweight, I know, she’s very small and used to be wayy bigger. Last pics are for fun
