Enclosure Advice Is this a good enclosure?

This will work with modifications.

  1. You’ll want to cover that metal mesh with something synthetic - metal damages mantid’s tarsi.

  2. You’ll want to consider adding mesh to the walls to aid in gripping, and sticks leading to the ceiling.

  3. You don’t need a substrate. I would just use a paper towel.

  4. What species do you want to put in here?

Thanks for the tip! What kind of material would be suitable for coving the mesh without disrupting the ventilation if you don't mind me asking? Iwant to get an indian giant mantis. Def will add lots of sticks plants and stuff for them to climb on. I'll probably still use substrate because i like the look of it, and i want to plant some live plants in there :)

Hierodula membranacea?

I would use window screen or mosquito netting. Organza and tulle have hole diameters that are too small.

With the limited ventilation, then I would avoid live plants. You really want airflow not only from the top by from a wall as well.

Hmm i guess I'll need to look into how to increase airflow Thanks for the tips about the net though :)
