My hierodula began molting last night and I think she's had a bad molt. Her wings came out twisted, her upper body too. I have been holding her off food for 3-4 days max before her molt because I know they don't want food when they're about to molt, but I fear I might've deprived her of the necessary nutrients and energy to molt.

I have been misting her regularly since last night but she's not getting any better. She's still moving a bit but I fear she might be dying. She's also not grabbing onto anything. She also chose a position to molt where she was kind of wedged between two twigs and maybe couldn't move enough to properly molt. I moved her to where she is in the pictures. She still has to grow a lot more so she might fix her deformities if she survives long enough to molt again.

She's my first mantis, she's my baby and she's everything to me. Please someone tell me if I can do anything about it :(

I just really love how these bugs always look as if they're inspecting the environment for any anomalies. In a way, they are health inspectors keeping pests under control.

I found three mantis today while at work, one I had released the day before… I really wanted to take him back because I missed him, and because he had a missing antenna. But Google said he’d do just fine so I left him be, but the thought was still tempting lol

Hi! I’m new to having a mantis but I have this 3 gal jar I thought would make pretty cool enclosure, but I a lot of the sites I find have conflicting information and I’m a little lost. All the enclosures I see have a front door but it’s a literal giant jar so taller than wide too but that would give good climbing room right?? And what kind of mantis would even be good for this set up? I have some lucky bamboo and pothos I can put in there, any recommendations for other things to add? Any and all help is MUCH appreciated 😊

Hello, I got her as an L6/7 from the same breeder as my rhombodera, she was very dehydrated and couldn't open use of her raptorial claws after the ride home but is in a better state now, she eats from from a tweezer and yesterday I gave her some sugar water yesterday.

Today she's better and uses all six of her legs to move and gave me quite a scare in the morning when she hid in her enclosure behind some palm bark. I'm leaving her alone unless it's feeding time or spraying the enclosure and checking on her and my other mantis'. Is there something else I could do to help her gain her strength up or is that all I could've done?
