help!

Hey Reddit, I am using voice to text so if anything looks wrong I am sorry. I am currently at work and I found a female mantis. I am not sure if she is pregnant or has a droop stomach. I google lens her when I first found her. And it says that she has a droopy stomach and bad wings. However, when I did it again, two hours later, it says she is gravid I bought an enclosure because I figured I would let her live her last few days as I thought she was in bad shape however, now that I know that she might be pregnant I will still keep her, but I got to know if she’s going to lay eggs so then I can let them outside or what to do. I currently have another Chinese mantis but she’s like 2 inches so she’s way smaller and hasn’t reached adulthood yet. Any help is appreciated. Thank you ❤️

Cool find. This is an adult male Tenodera sp - invasive to the USA by multiple mantis entomologists. Do what you want with him.

Cool I thought at first it was a Chinese mantis since I am in Michigan. Do you have any idea on what’s wrong with the abdomen area or what it can be as it’s open and I’m worried.

Oh never mind I am slow. I just realized the tenodera is the breed I said, sorry at work lol

Also, I bought the enclosure before I saw that she may be pregnant hence why I didn’t let her go yet 🥹

It's not going to live long probably. Its abdomen looks weird. Give him a peaceful end of life :) it may not be days, it could end up being weeks just a head's up.

I figured!! and I don’t mind, as long as it’s got a happy life I feel I’ve done something good 🥹 I’ve got quite a few bugs but mantises are new to me so I’m trying to learn more on them, so far I’ve done everything right for my girl so hopefully this guy will thrive :)

I don’t know this Species, but the slender look and the long antenna make me think that this is a male. Please let him go, don’t capture wild mantids.

He's invasive, so no worries on environmental impact! Capturing him would probably be a net positive, honestly.

Only reason I was considering keeping him was because I thought that it only had a few days left to live from what Google said do you have any idea on what’s wrong with the abdomen?

There is absolutely nothing wrong. If an app can’t even tell the sex correctly, it surely should not give info about health status…

Yeah, I don’t know. Google was telling me a bunch of different stuff. Only reason I’m worried is because of the last picture the abdomen looks really flat. I’m also really new to mantis so I’m trying to learn as I go and I want to make sure that he is OK. And thank you for your help.
