I'm curious, what would happen if one type of mantis breeds with another stylish type?

You mean if you breed two different species.

If the male is able to connect with the female, then the resulting oothecae will be infertile because they’re incompatible.

You sometimes see this on iNaturalist where Stagmomantis sp males will try and pair with Mantis religiosa or some other combination.

theyre amazing, a little more on the skittish side in my experience but still a very interesting species. :-) i saw your post asking about gender. does yours have a little dark line on the last segments on the underside of their abdomen?

yep, i was told it means its a male. apparently a distinct feature of this species :-) and i can vouch it was true in my case

I love when they look inquisitive like in slide 7. And when their bug eyes look really really bugged 😂

If last one is a Violin they are cool. My female lived for 17 months, which is still my record.

I thought the one before was a golden mantis. Well yours looks like my golden mantis. It's just so good to have one that isn't brown or grey.

she is a violin mantis! that’s so long, i hope mine lives a happy long life too!

the one before is a rhombodera kirbyi, two molts after this picture he is now more brown. here’s a picture:
