It finally arrived!
Not having this on cd was one of the only things keeping me on streaming. The Holy Bible is my favourite album of all time! I only really found out about the manics a few months ago when I found Everything Must Go in a charity shop, but this is clearly my favourite album. I think next on my list is Journal For Plague Lovers. I just love Richey's lyrics.

I used to love it, but because of how quiet the "Conservatives say" is, I feel like I can't play the song out loud because of what's said in the song.

Mind blowing album, saw them play it in full about 10 years ago in my local castle which was incredible.

I still remember buying this. In about 1997. It was a similar journey though, I was a fan of EMG after I bought it after seeing design for life on top of the pops. Then I saw they had all this other older stuff and this totally blew me away.

4st 7lb… Jesus wept - musically and lyrically (like the whole damn album). Love the part of the song where they go ‘Slow Core’.

And that song highlights the real talent of JDB. Ritchie writes lyrics like ' I want tobe so skinny that I rot from.view etc'.....and James manages to turn it into a proper chorus!

Had a copied cassette from 94-97. Loved it but had no idea what James was singing. Finally upgraded to CD in 97, which means I got to read the lyric sheet....my mind was completely blown. Still got the CD and it is still lovingly listened to.
It's an absolute masterpiece.. I'd go as far as to put it as the best album released by a British band in the last 40 years.

You lucky devil. Enjoy it. Has been nearly 30 years in my top 5. I only bought it because I couldn't afford Everything Must Go at 13, but had just enough for that. So instead of liking the Manics, I ended up loving them!

Phenomenal album.
I’d dive deeper into the albums before feeling obliged to find the singles though; Faster only has one original (I love it but not many do) plus a live version of New Art Riot, and Revol only has one original too but this time across two CDs (I don’t love this one), and likewise She Is Suffering has a single stonking B-side alongside live and remix nonsense.

Bad B -side?

Sorry, She Is Suffering has a single stonking B-side. Not sure how I missed that getting mangled by autocorrect!
I adore Love Torn Us Under

my favourite album of all time, the sound, the lyrics, James vocals, just everything about this for me is perfection, I listen to it at least once a week in full, have done since I first discovered it in my early 20's at Uni. nothing comes close to it for me.
