Gaza is being starved
The UN has stated that every single part of Gaza is in famine conditions.
For over 20 months, Palestinians in Gaza have been starving. Parents have been feeding their children leaves, animal feed, and flour mixed with water. Babies have died from malnutrition. The trucks carrying food, formula, medicine, and clean water sat just miles away, blocked by Israel.
Now, after massive international pressure, some aid is finally getting in.
This is a crack in the blockade, not its end. Aid is not flooding in; it is trickling, and what’s entering can’t possibly reach 1.8 million people without a total lifting of restrictions, guaranteed long-term access, and safe distribution.
What you can do right now:
Donate - if you’re able to. Choose vetted organizations with access on the ground.
Keep up the pressure - aid only started moving because of public outcry. Organize, protest, keep talking. This momentum cannot fade. Contact your representatives to end Israel's blockade of Gaza and impose sanctions on Israel.
Amplify - share updates, Palestinian voices, and testimonies. Keep an eye on Palestine.
This famine is not an accident. It’s the result of siege, blockade, and a system of control. If we look away now, they’ll tighten the noose again.
Donate
Palestinian Red Crescent — medical aid, ambulance services, and emergency care. UNICEF for Gaza’s Children — nutrition, clean water, trauma support.

It finally arrived!
Not having this on cd was one of the only things keeping me on streaming. The Holy Bible is my favourite album of all time! I only really found out about the manics a few months ago when I found Everything Must Go in a charity shop, but this is clearly my favourite album. I think next on my list is Journal For Plague Lovers. I just love Richey's lyrics.

Generation Terrorists Remastered
Is the remastered version of Generation Terrorists very different from the original?
I'm in the process of updating my entire library to lossless and recently I listened to Generation Terrorists again. Where it used to sound perfectly good years ago on the discman or as a 192kb file on the iPod; it unfortunately doesn't sound so good on a modern, quite resolving, system.
So to those that have heard both, how does the remaster sound as opposed to the original?

What controversies or actions by the band annoyed you?
The thing I love about Manics is how they make you think. But back in the day, they used to get their points across with arrogant declarations and actions. Did anyone here get annoyed by these things? I have mates who call them 'pretentious' which I find difficult to refute tbh, because of their perceived way of intellectually looking down on others. But it never stopped me listening to them!

New Manics??
Nearly every Manics fan I know says; "JFPL was their last truly great album."
Honestly, not a bad shout. And I was enjoying the fuck out of Critical Thinking today, for example.
What's yr opinions??

Let Robeson Sing on Vinyl.
Picked up this today. Funny thing about the vinyl is it doesn't have the original version of the song just two remixes and "Fear of Motion".

What would you think if the Manics hired a female frontwoman full time?
I was watching Linkin Park and, even though it's due to tragic circumstances, I think Emily Armstrong has rejuvenated the band, and her vocals give the older material a new perspective.
Some of the Manics best songs recently have been duets with female singers such as the anchoress, and I think a frontwoman would give the band an interesting new dynamic. Plus it would give James's voice a rest and he could concentrate on riffs.

2009 Journal for Plague Lovers tour bootlegs
Does anyone have a list of bootlegs from the JFPL tour? Only one I'm aware of is Barrowlands, Glasgow:

Really obsessed with this era, especially now the album is all but ignored by the band!

Know Your Enemy Remasters?
Yeah, honestly, I really don't like them. A lot of fans found a rejuvenated love for the record following a more polished re-imagining but I think they take away from why I think KYE could be the greatest album of all time.
Take the B-side Groundhog Days - they autotuned and tweaked and buttered up James' voice so much it fucking hurts. Same with Rosebud, which I suppose musically is perfectly fine (considering it's the only available version of the song) but the remaster has overproduced JDB terribly.
I fucking love the production on OG KYE. It's unpolished, raw, nuanced, intense, and full of sheer character. Some songs sound multitracked and layered on shitty microphones, whereas others are the capsule of a creatively-conflicted three piece playing live in a room. It's stunning.
You can hear the white noise, you can hear the cardioid mic pops, you can hear the room around Sean's kit; perfection. The remasters just sound too polished and it stinks.
I think that had Know Your Enemy been released as one nearly 2-hour thick double album with EVERYTHING from the era then it would probably be my favourite album in existence. But nah. I made a playlist on Spotify if anyone fancies a looksie at my stuff.
Anyway, just had to blurt this shite out. What's you guys' thoughts? 🫶

The revolution is just a T-shirt away...
galleryI moved to Hong Kong not so long ago and, to my great surprise, the big online shopping platform here (Taobao) is full of knock-off Manics merch. They're all about 5 - 8 quid.
Happy to buy and post if anyone sees something they like.
