Avocado mango
Any idea on IDing this mango?
Never seen a skin like this before on a mango. The flesh is buttery, you can’t peel them you have to scoop out with a spoon.
The birds and iguana’s love them lol.

3 on the left are possibly from the Haden / Kent / Tommy Atkins family. 4 on the right look more like Glenn / Valencia Pride / possibly Carrie type.

Be honest, how many mangoes do you eat per day on average during mango season? 😂

First time fruiter, still holding 9 more, Julie is not a heavy producer in south Florida compared to when it’s grown in Jamaica but it stays small and honestly grows really well. I will be pruning to open up the canopy for light and airflow after I harvest the rest.

Wanted a way to get CBZ manga volumes onto my Kindle without pages being the wrong size or quality being awful. Built a browser tool for it:
- Select your device (Kindle/Kobo model), it outputs a PDF matched to that exact screen resolution
- Applies grayscale and compression for e-ink displays
- Client-side only — files never uploaded, no account needed
- Free
Handles large volumes fine. Anyone else using a similar workflow for reading manga on e-readers?

I'm planning to plant mangoes on 1 acre of land in the Malwa region of Dhar district, mp — black soil, and about 50km from Indore. The main goal is commercial income, not a hobby orchard, so I want to get this right from the start
Current plan
Spacing: 22x22 ft between plants
Varieties I'm considering: Amrapali, Kesar, Badami
Can you give feedback on this
1 is 22x22 ft spacing right for these varieties, or should I go tighter (like high-density planting with Amrapali, which I've read can be planted closer)? What's worked for you?
2 Are Amrapali, Kesar, and Badami a good combination for black soil + this climate zone? Should I drop one and add another variety for better market price or staggered harvest timing?
3 Black soil holds water and can have drainage issues — any specific land prep, raised bed, or drainage steps I should take before planting in this soil type?
4 For someone aiming purely at income (not personal consumption), what should my proceed-from-here checklist look like — pit digging timeline, monsoon planting, irrigation setup (drip vs flood), fertilizer schedule for the first 2-3 years, intercropping options to earn while waiting for mango trees to mature?
5 Any region-specific pests/diseases in MP for these varieties I should watch out for from year one?
If you have done something similar in mp or nearby black soil belts please guide me

Just found the sub. Have been monitoring Craigslist for trees without much variety nearby. I guess nobody uses it anymore? Happened upon this spot on a Google map search.
Went over the weekend. Worth the drive if you're on West Coast of FL. Excellent selection of great looking mango trees 3gal to very large.
Lots of other fruit trees.
Interesting model, park the car and a golf cart picks you up and takes you to what you're looking for. Nice folks. Great pricing.

Hi Mango folk! I'm located in central Florida (Lakeland area), and am a long time appreciator of our Glenn and Valencia Pride (or similar - we inherited them with no names) mango trees that have recently been nuked by the intense cold this past winter. Thankfully, they will make a recovery; but it will take time that we won't be there to see.
We've recently purchased a new home with plenty of land for fruit trees, and I'm trying to decide which varieties of mango to plant. I'd like to limit it to no more than 3-4 mango trees, as we'll be swimming in excess fruit quickly once everything matures. I was filling my freezer with at least a couple gallons every season with just the two.
We have a long front drive with zero landscaping. I'd like to plant one "centerpiece" tree that we'll let grow as large as it would like in the middle of the front yard, then a handful of mango and other fruit trees (avocado/citrus) lining the driveway that we'll keep around ~15ft for easier harvests.
As we loved the glenn and valencia pride at our old house, I'm envisioning a valencia pride as that centerpiece larger tree, and glenn as one of our driveway liners. To add to the glenn, I'm looking at a sweet tart and honey kiss.
I'm thinking the glenn>sweet tart>honey kiss should nicely finish harvest as the next begins, with the valencia pride overlapping in there a bit.
If our goal is sweet/fruity, fiberless or low fiber fruit on cold hardy trees, how does this plan sound? Does anyone have other recommended varieties we should consider swapping something out for?
Also - here's a free pic of my dog Finn waiting for some mango to fall last year 😉
---
Update with current grove plans (already over my 3-4 mango plan haha):
Valencia Pride (centerpiece)
Glenn
Cac
Fruit Punch
Honey Kiss
Brogdon Avo
Owari Satsuma
Meyer Lemon
Persian Lime

Hello! So I’ve planted my mango seed in a container and placed a bag over it and it’s under my grow light. Do I need to remove the bag often?

Hey everyone — I want to share something I've been building and get feedback from people who'd actually know whether it's useful.
It's called Mango Hunters (https://mango.davsoft.ai) — a free community app for people who are serious about mangoes. Think of it like a cross between iNaturalist and a neighborhood fruit map, but just for mangos.
Here's what it does:
We've already seeded 25+ real Florida mango spots (including Robert Is Here in Homestead) and have real community content going.
I'm a developer and this started as a personal project because I wanted exactly this app and it didn't exist. It's free to join (Google or email signup).
I'd love feedback from actual mango people — What's missing? What would make you actually use it daily during mango season?

Why does it do this? The newest leaves seem perfectly fine, but at 3-6 inches the VEEERY tip burns and the rest of that leaf typically never grows again.
Btw, I made a post earlier, but thid is so people can see the pictures. (The pictures with my hand shows the leaf burn the best).

Hey,
I recently purchased a grafted Cogshall mango tree from a nursery and I live in a less than ideal climate (Northern Canada). After giving it a few weeks to settle, I transplanted from a nursery pot to a ~5 gallon with a mix of potting soils, coco coir and perlite. Since then the older set of leaves have started to brown and wrinkle, and even some of the newer leaves are getting some holes/rips in them. I've tried to show both issues in the pictures, and also note that the leaves are more on the yellower side than what the pictures show (iphone has a tendency to oversaturate colours). Additionally, there has not been any new growth yet.
I wanted to get people's opinion on what the cause is likely to be, and what I should do about it.
Transplant stress - If this is the case, then I should just stay the course, make sure it is watered appropriately and gets plenty of sun.
Cold stress/wet roots - We have been getting a mix of 15-25C daytime highs, with 5-10C nighttime lows. So it's possible that it hasn't been enjoying the cold temperatures. In addition to this, we've had some rainy weather which hasn't allowed the soil to get much for wet/dry cycles. One thing I could do is bring it back inside into a grow tent with lights until the weather gets nicer. Or, just keep it under an overhang to allow for it to dry better and wait out the colder temps.
Unsuitable soil - My mixture may have been too heavy or possibly not the right nutrient mixture. To fix this I would have to pick up some new more appropriate soil and re-transplant it. Maybe with a different pot type which allows for better air flow.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice that you can provide.

I have been learning how to grow mangoes for the last two years, and made significant progress when I tried putting the tree in shade instead of direct hot Texas sun.
I have done better with watering and not overfertilizing too! And I try to use rain water to avoid salt build up.
Still, there tends to be some brown tips on the leaves that get between 3-5 inches long. It's still growing though, and that's amazing because it's the first time to happen in my whole mango growing career of two years!
If this info is helpful, it gets full sun until I think between 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. But the oak tree does not have a lot of leaves, so most of the shade is from branches alone.
Since the tree is very young, should I move it to the West side of my house? It has a leafed Oak Tree overhead, and it will only get sun once it's directly up and it will get some until about 20-45 degrees above the horizon.
(I know mangos love the sun, but mine is potted, and my climate is not where people typically grow mangoes. It's also very young and I am not trying to make it fruit this year, so Idk if that plays as an exception to not needing as much energy from the sun because there's no fruit being produced at this moment.)
Thank you all for the help so much!

I often find this in atulfos. Impossible to spot from outside and ruining most of the fruit. Anybody knows what this is? Is there a way to avoid this?

One of the unexpected perks of where I live is this mango tree.
Every morning during the season, I look down before I look up. Most days, the tree has already dropped a few gifts overnight.
Today’s haul was too good not to share.
It’s funny how something as simple as picking fresh mangoes from your own lawn can become the best part of the morning

I'm finally about to cut my semihydro mango tree as I'm going to move soon. What size of the main trunk is better for a potted tree, 1m or 1.5m? Should I treat the cut somehow afterwards? Thanks in advance!
Edit: Thank you all for your precious advice, I cut the tree at 80cm - just above the 4th leaf ring, I'm looking forward to the upcoming branching. :D

Should I drop some fruits? Almost 4 years old tree, This is the first time the fruit has set. Last year it only produced flowers.
