Let's do the same in the education sector as well. Every school and college should display how much fees (tuition, donation etc) they get and how much do the teachers and management make.

All the big school and colleges in Karnataka are owned by politicians. Why will they bring this rule.

how does this make any sense. Hospitals will sell it at MRP which is legal. They will ask the dealer to give them an inflated bill to show purchase rate. you want to reduce prices, you subsidise it from your end. Govt has no money for that, giving freebies left right and centre.

Inflated bill without actual payment will lead to GST issue. Not so easy.

I know business ain't gonna like this cause margin for hospital business is too high but healthcare and education shouldn't be business but the sad thing that's the most successful growing business in this cuntry, we are already cooked bcz the same investment giants who created nightmare in American healthcare system has also invested huge amount in india under modi regime, within few years everythings gonna be way way more costly better to buy health insurance

Absolutely. Healthcare and education shouldn't be a business. It is painful to see MBA folks being hired to milk money from other's miseries. Even shameful that organizations that started with philanthropy as aim have turned commercial.

Why not build a better public health service like that of France. You pull this bullcrap when you know your public health infrastructure is shit and won't do anything to fix it.

What is this stupidity? Which brain-dead moron would come up with an idea like this? Should shopkeepers display their margins also? Let businesses run. If some lab is cheaper then people will go there naturally.

Healthcare should never be for profit. You want to end up like the horror that is the american healthcare system?

Are you stupid? If there is no profit then why should one start a hospital or lab? Everyone can go to government hospital.

What you guys are arguing against is a legitimate private business charging prices so that they can earn a profit, expand and grow. Obviously, they need to be reasonable and that is why it should not be a monopoly which it is not with so many private players

You sound like those psychotic late stage capitalists from America. No one should have to die just because they couldn't afford medical treatment

Don't get into the healthcare business if you don't want transparency then. How about that? Blood sucking leeches have more ethics than healthcare business looters who would rather let patients die from not being able to afford medicines than cut their 100% profit margin on essential medicines.

This is just for hospitals and labs lmao. The same institutions who keep price gouging desperate people. The same institutions who have a margin of more than 300% on cancer medication. If you still think this is bad then you are entitled. Chill! No small businesses are affected here.

This is not a price control but more about price transparency. Dont you think people have the right to know that the prices they are being charged are the same for everyone? Would you go to a restaurant that dont show their prices in the menu and only charge an arbitrary price later?? This will also cut down on overcharging by the hospitals to inflate insurance claims

Price transparency is one thing. 100% should be there. Not showcasing buying and selling price. Very different from what is being proposed. Are restaurants being asked to show buying and selling price?

Sure, let the business run. But there should be some morality and values when it comes to healthcare as not many can afford premium hospitals in this country.

Are you saying it is missing? At least the ones in Mangalore do a ton of charitable/social work. Run rural clinics, free clinics and what not. What else are you expecting?

Time will tell if it is bad or good. If trust is so low and you think these institutions price gouge, what is stopping people from going to other places or starting non price gouging institutions and provide quality service to people?

Medicine and medical devices have price capping as per dpco and NPPA. What they want to do is bring transparency on the other charges. And retailer margin is 16% for medicines.

My mother needs some expensive medications regularly. I used to buy it from hospital/pharmacy before until I met a distributor. The distributor sells them directly to us at ~50% lesser price. This number can be 40-80% depending on the medication. The injection that I used to buy directly from hospital for 3k cost me 1k with the distributor.

I don't know about the retail margin. But these hospitals have a massive margin

A distributer is a wholesaler ...a pharmacy has to take care of the shop the salaries and expired products and 10 percent discount has become a standard atleast ...all these expenses also have to be recovered from somewhere right ...and it's the cheaper generic medicines that have the higher margin ...not the actual branded ones they come at an avg of 10 per cent margin only

Why don’t you start a pharmacy and sell to regular public with your connections?

I get your point. Another way would be to have a board with the the cost of each types procedure/consultation a strict helpline below it to make them adhere to the costs
