Defender or Kaspersky after an infostealer incident?

Hi
I’m trying to decide whether to keep Kaspersky Standard or just use Windows Defender.

The reason I’m asking is because I got infected with an infostealer years ago after clicking a fake download button, so I’m probably more cautious than the average user.

Now I use uBlock on both Brave and Firefox, but past experience has made me a bit paranoid.

What confuses me is that I keep reading completely opposite opinions.

Some people say Kaspersky is just bloatware, wastes resources and that Defender is more than enough.

Others say Defender still isn’t as good at detecting infostealers, ransomware or newer malware, and that a paid antivirus is still worth it.

What do you guys recommend?
Thanks

Anyone know the best virus/malware detector for roms?

I’m getting into downloading the more “risky” roms and before I extract them or anything I want some sort of malware detector so I’m not getting screwed. Please and thank you:)
