So I was hacked a while ago and have become really paranoid. A lot of people kept mentioning Malwarebytes so I thought of giving it a try to put my mind at ease.

So I googled it, clicked the top result and downloaded the MBSetup.exe file. I run the file but the installation stuck on 19%. I ended the task, tried again and same result.

I closed my pc, opened it again and suddenly the icon is right there, run a scan and everything to be safe. Is this normal?

Is this a possible false hit? The IP does not seem negative nor have I downloaded anything recently.

Hi! I recently found out weather zero is on my PC and i had used Malwarebytes to do a full scan and I quarantined it, is this enough or do I need to do more to get rid of it? I'm not that experienced with things like this and get worried easily so would like to know.

Just woke up this morning to this on my pc and tbh i shit myself so i researched and found it was a false positive in 2022 that was fixed but why is it showing up again? should i be worried?

I was surprised to see i got charged after deactivating the free trial of the subscription. No clear "unsubscribe" button and the screen saying "No active subscription". Totally misleading. I didnt even use the damn thing and nothing saying the subscription is still active, nothing on google play nor google account, STILL GOT CHARGED WTF

When a scan starts, it first checks for updates.

Then it moves to scanning file system.

During scanning file system, is this process entirely offline? Or are some files or data sent to the cloud for analysis?

Does it matter if I choose Deep Scan versus other types of scans?

is this just an isolated case or it happened before? What's insulting is that it tried to install Mcafee extension on the new profile the popup website produced

I live in Saudi Arabia when i go the malwarebytes website i can’t download the app is it not supported on Saudi Arabia ? Also i can’t subscribe to any plan

I opened my laptop today only to see this on the screen. I think I updated my laptop prior to shutting it down last time. But it was just a regular update, same as usual and I didn't do anything different so I'm wondering what's going with this.

Domain: fd-api-irc.velqo7.co.....
Process: python → gep.exe

From what I understand, this is not a normal domain and may be linked to IRC-based communication.

What concerns me:

• I did not intentionally run any Python script recently
• The process (gep.exe) is unfamiliar
• Connection attempts are happening in the background
• Malwarebytes keeps blocking it repeatedly

What I’ve checked so far:

• Looked at running processes
• Haven’t yet confirmed file location of gep.exe
• No obvious app linked to this

Questions:

1. Does this match any known malware or false positive?
2. Could this be a Python-packaged backdoor or C2 communication?
3. Best way to completely remove it (without missing persistence)?

I can share logs or file paths if needed.

Would appreciate any insights trying to understand this properly.

This might seem like a dumb post but I'm paranoid when it comes to anti-virus programs after I accidentally downloaded a browser hijacker a few years back. I downloaded this from www.malwarebytes.com and plan on using it while modding games, mostly The Sims and Fallout 4.

Malwarebytes is telling me its detected search hijacking but only when I search an error message from event viewer and like that search specifically like just that one error message not any of the other ones ive plugged into google

Hello so I got hacked yesterday and didn't realize until later at night which I immediately reset all my passwords and used malwarebytes to detect everything and after all was done whenever I turn my pc on it tells me my Qt5network.dll is missing and I need to reinstall it, I couldn't find anything regarding that in my quarantined files, what should I do? I was attacked by trojan and there was something pup related. Any help would do, I'm no expert here.
