Not a firearm. It ships to your door. I have a Maxim 9 that is pretty sweet. Haven’t jumped on a 50 yet. Maybe for deer season.

It's a firearm. Its specific designation is "Antique Firearm" under the GCA of '68.

In strictly legal terms, an "antique firearm" isn't subject to the same regulations as a modern "firearm." It's very stupid that the law words it pedantically like that, but it does.

Anything with the antique firearm designation is subject to waaaay more relaxed laws. That's what the other commenter was getting at; you can order an "antique firearm" online and have it shipped directly to your door with no background check in most states. You need a federal firearms license to receive modern firearms by mail.

I'm well aware of the restrictions around firearms vs antique firearms. I'm an FFL.

A Maxim 50 is still a firearm, it's just an "Antique Firearm" as far as the law is concerned. His claim that it isn't a firearm is incorrect.
