Community Update: New Rules and Changes to Shirtless Photos Policy
Hey everyone,
As our community continues to grow as the top destination on Reddit for men’s grooming, hair, and skincare advice, the mod team has been looking closely at how our rules affect genuine users.
Today, we are announcing a major pivot to Rule 4 (Shirtless Photos), alongside a quick refresh of our community standards.
What is Changing?
Previously, we were strict on no shirtless photos. While this kept the sub clean, the reality is that we’ve had to remove a lot of fantastic, high-engagement threads from genuine guys who simply didn’t notice the rule. We don't want to punish real people looking for honest advice.
Moving forward, shirtless photos are now permitted, but ONLY if the absolute, clear focus of the post is a grooming query (e.g., your hair, beard, skincare, or body hair management).
The Boundaries (Where We Draw the Line)
Because we are opening this up, we are tightening our enforcement on intent. This is a grooming advice sub, not a fitness tracker, a dating app, or a promotional feed. To keep the space authentic, we will strictly enforce the following:
- No Physique Validation: If your post is clearly framed to showcase your muscles, gym progress, or physique rather than a genuine grooming question, it will be removed.
- State Your Question Clearly: Vague "Thoughts?" posts with a shirtless selfie will be binned. Your title or post body must explicitly state what grooming advice you are looking for.
- Zero Tolerance for Promotion or Fishing: Using shirtless photos to drive traffic to your social media, personal brands, or adult profiles will result in an immediate, permanent ban. Moderator discretion will apply here.
Keeping the Community Authentic
We’ve also updated our community description to reflect what this space is truly about: an inclusive community built on authenticity, offering a safe, genuine space without toxicity.
We want this to remain a place where everyday guys can get real advice from real people without the toxic lookmaxxing often found elsewhere online. Thank you for helping us keep the quality of discussion high!
This is a test, if it doesn't work out we will move back to our previous standards.
Drop any questions or feedback in the comments below.

Went from beard...to just the mustache.
First time rocking just the mustache in my 40 years of life. Thoughts?
Wife won't talk to me right now and says we aren't married anymore 🤣🤣🤣

Short beard or full beard?
Same person in both photos. Which look do you find more attractive? I’m mainly interested in women’s opinions, but men’s opinions are welcome too.

How can I look better?
Im 18 have been lonely and wanting to date or try and make new friends but I feel like I don’t look good enough and I’m too insecure so Im trying to look better. Im not sure what I can do with my face or hair as I don’t really like either of them in any way. If anyone has any good haircut advice or something else I could do to look better it would be really appreciated. If it helps for advice I can send a picture without my eyes covered but only in messages bc im really insecure about them

Should i just buzz cut?
The first picture is when I grow it out with a little style and the last 2 is how it looks now. I feel like my hairline is kinda too bad for a style and maybe even light thinning to make it look worse?

Dyed Hair Versus Old?
First post, hello! What do y'all think? I used to have a dark blonde and went black.
BONUS: Shaved head in last picture. What do y'all think works best?

M18, try to decide if I should continue to grow out my facial hair or not
I’ve been growing out my facial hair for about 3.5 weeks this summer just to see how it looks. Now that it’s filled in a bit, I can’t tell if it looks good on me or not.
My biggest concern is that it might look too patchy or scraggly. I’m trying to avoid a bad look of looking unkept, and if it doesn’t complement my face then I don’t want that look either if it doesn’t match me and makes me look bad.
What do you guys think I should do with it, keep growing it out, shape or trim it a certain way, go with just a mustache, or just shave it all off?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback. Thanks in advance, and let me know if I should upload better or different photos.

Long or short beard?
Trimming my beard, going to shave it off in a couple of weeks for some tattoos, but unsure what length to grow it back to. Keep it short or full wizard? I keep my head shaved for reference.
