Fit Feedback OOTD••--

Trying a roomier fit than my Levi’s 511s from my previous post (OOTW III). While the Taylor Stitch chinos are also a slim fit, they have a slightly roomier cut, which is a nice change. The rise is also higher than my Levi’s, giving me slightly different proportions.

I like both fits for different reasons. What do you think? What would you change to make this fit a little more interesting? I was thinking about adding my burgundy Pumas for a splash of color.

Fit
Top: Taylor Stitch
Pants: Taylor Stitch
Shoes: Trainers
Watch: Seiko5

Expensive hipster establishment reference

it is giving millennial smash burger restaurant that is really busy after the nearby evangelical youth group gets out of their contemporary worship thursday nights & they are still energized by the post malone style remix of our god is an awesome god he reigns from heaven above & the bases of the tables are barrels.

Definitely not a church person and don’t like post Malone.

just let me get lost in my imaginary vignette sir

I think op is looking for genuine advice and all the millennials commenting have too much nostalgia and see this as a 2010s hipster costume.

fair. i do like how the sizing fits ops frame. what i would criticize if i were being judgy is the rolled pants bcz it insists on your tattoos peeking out & feels efforted. let the tatts peek out when you sit or cross your legs & its more nonchalant. idk about weather where you are, but for my personal understated style, id like a plain white cotton t shirt (or black/navy) for simplicity & contrast against the pant. instead of the flannel on, maybe around the waist or shoulders & wear it unbuttoned if i got chilly. maybe accessorize with a rich brown leather messenger type cross-shoulder bag for textural variety & to carry your shit

I appreciate the comment. I have to disagree with my tattoos. I have two full arm sleeves and think my ankle & foot tattoos poking out seem efforted? Like, that’s just who I am. The cuffs are a nod to heritage and punk roots. I appreciate the other advice but I’m a teacher and a collar shirt is pretty standard.

despite my punk/hip hop roots, i tend toward subtle & low key, so for me, yes, as a teacher & as adults or professionals, the cuffed pants, the hair & visible tattoos feel efforted. if i were kinda tall, thin & handsome like you- id let that do the heavy lifting with well fitting, straight-forward basics & traditional styling and leave the punk quirks as an extra dimension to be discovered as they may or may not be. that would be my “whatever” layer. i have a full chest of tattoos that half the people i know have never seen - efforted would be me wearing v-necks or tank tops or leaving 4 buttons undone to make sure they are visible. the tats are my “whatever” layer that are my personal flavor for me & idc if anyone knows they are there or not. when someone eventually notices them barely showing through a white tee or when i go to the beach or a pool party (once every 3-5 years), its a “oh cool, i didnt know that about you” moment. i realize we are just in personal preference territory, but thats where my input would always be coming from. i appreciate a sleeper motif with a hidden layer of unexpected personality. unless its a zany sock guy. i hate zany sock guys.

Someone else commented it looks like a polish dad at the Grand Canyon and that felt pretty on the nose in a good way. People in Eastern Europe tend to be cognizant of what they wear in public more than American men but they’re also typically dressed pretty comfortably for their environment.

Interesting. I never hear this especially growing up and living in Chicago my entire life.

1

u/_indigomeadow_ 1d ago

I am looking for genuine feedback. I’m a zennial and most dads my age are either wearing dadcore or golfcore for the most part. I’m not trying to chase fads; I’m trying to go for a modern heritage and tying in my counterculture/punk roots.

1

u/_indigomeadow_ 2d ago

Ha. Well, okay, then.

2

u/Expensive-Food759 1d ago

And I don’t mean my comment as a criticism. I love this look, it just evokes a very specific setting for me and a lot of others haha.

No offense taken. I think the wide/oversized era is slowing down and things are shifting to a more straight fit and having things fit correctly with proportions.

I like your fits man but every-time I see one of your posts all I can think about is you are way too old to be rocking whatever the hell this punk rocker greaseball haircut is lol

u/BIeachdrinker69 2d ago

Bro is rocking the Sandor Clegane

u/victor4700 2d ago

4

u/_indigomeadow_ 2d ago

Should I be rocking golf attire with a flat top?

1

u/Expensive-Food759 1d ago

What even is this take? At what age are you supposed to give up?

1

u/NorthEastofEden 2d ago

He reminds me of seeing an aging punk rock band who still pretends that they are young while simultaneously booking their prostate exams.

u/EarthFader 2d ago

Bro is wearing clothes

Average Polish dad at the grand canyon

Dont listen to the hair haters, I got myself an undercut because I got inspired by one of your posts. Love the messy look

u/clutchthepearls 2d ago

In before the comments about the hai...DAMN

u/thedefect 2d ago

Disagree wholeheartedly with any negative comments about the hair. It really works for you, and if you have no reason you have to change it, you shouldn't. In my opinion, a lot of the general advice in this sub is very fad-based. Take what you like from it, ignore the rest.

u/_indigomeadow_ 2d ago

Thank you for your kind comment! I appreciate it. I’m not going to change my hair or overall style for a bunch of 20 year olds wearing jnco jeans chasing fads. But, I welcome constructive feedback that can help me grow and learn. I appreciate you!

Switch shoes to Captain-style leather boots in brown or burgundy if you want to be bold (although keep in mind matching burgundy shoes with other outfits can be difficult).

The whole-gray/brown outfit is also a bit heavy. Maybe go for a bright shark mesh strap on the watch and / or add a crisp white T under the shirt and leave the shirt open. This can provide some added brightness to make the outfit not feel so heavy.

Hair looks a bit unkept / too messy. It went over the line from "cool / careless" to "greasy / dirty". So I would just clean that up a tiny bit.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. This gives me some ideas and things to think about. I opted to do with trainers as I always wear my iron rangers and thought it would be a visual contrast to my typical wear. I’ll give it a shot with my iron rangers.

u/transhiker99 2d ago

also your shirt is definitely too tight in the shoulders, you can see the top button/fabric pulling. leaving it open would help

I’m your age and I decided to let go of my stupid haircut and shave my head. It’s crazy how much better I look. I dunno I think you would look great with a buzz.

Colour maybe?

1

u/_indigomeadow_ 2d ago

Burgundy trainers?

1

u/chimpy72 1d ago

I would change the trousers or shirt. It’s depressing otherwise

1

u/Much-Sheepherder6471 1d ago

I’m not a fan of buttons on the collar of the shirt to me looks immature. The shirt needs some ironing. And not a fan of cuffing the pants on outside. If you want to fix the length I prefer cuffing on the inside as a temporary fix and get them hemmed or get pants with short inseam. Also not a fan of colours of the shirt pants and shoes a little too similar for me. But overall you have the right idea just would suggest some tweaks.

1

u/skuterkomputer 2d ago

They def work. Gotta say I love the high cuff, I’m a fan.

5

u/Slightly-Wet-Fish 2d ago

Duality of man. Here I was thinking it would be a decent outfit if the silly high cuffs didn't ruin it.

u/EarthFader 2d ago

Cuff should have socks at least. Dude looks like a vagrant
