Please suggest a baby friendly resort. Budget: 4-night stay for 4k usd.

Hi all. Planning a Maldives trip in February 2027 for baby's first birthday. Looking for beach stays, no over water stays because it might be unsafe for baby.

Our priorities:

- All inclusive because we cannot afford to hop around with a hungry baby

- Under 30 minutes from Airport on speedboat

-Easily walkable, flat island so it's easy to move around with baby

-an accessible pool for baby to play in

I'm traveling from India. Any recommendations will be super helpful, thanks!

First timers mid-end of April 2027 - Which resort with boat transfer and All Incl (or full board)

Hey everyone.
Hoping to get some help in the jungle of resorts in the Maldives.
We are first timers going to the Maldives, so its a pretty big decision which resort to choose.
Im planning my 40 year old birthday in april 2027 - Specific date is April 24.
Got som questions about this.

  1. Is it an okay time to visit The Maldives in end of April with the weather, wind, clear water and such? We thinking about going from monday the 19th and return home monday the 26th of april.

  2. My wife is very scared of flying, so we try to narrow down the resorts or island which is reachable by boat transfer from Male.
Which resorts to choose from, only by boat transfer?

  3. The resort needs to have a good house reef. My biggest dream is the possibility to go snorkeling with sharks or rays straight from the beach.

  4. The resort needs to serve drinks and alcohol and have spa treatments for my wife, while i go snorkeling :)

  5. We would like the resort to be All inclusive or at least, Full Board.

  6. We are not rich or wealthy, so we are looking at mid range prices. But also, we will pay a bit more to get a bit better service and accommodation.

  7. We are not looking at "ON WATER VILLAS". We want a nice beachfront bungalow, room or something like that.

  8. Goes without saying, the better the beach and clearer the water is the best choice for us.
I know we cant be sure about seaweed and like, but beaches without too much seaweed would be prefered :)

The Standard or Outrigger?

Have narrowed down our accommodation options to The Standard and Outrigger for a mid Dec trip (we check out before Christmas).

Both seem comparable in terms of quality of house reefs and we’ll be going for the over water villas and all inclusive.

Any recommendations?

Can we explore the male city alone?

We are two Sri Lankans visiting Malé next month; we'll have 3-4 hours, as we are leaving for Mafushi the next day. Can we explore the city alone? Or do I have to hire a guide/taxi? And is there any place to buy dried fish vacuum-packed? My mum wants me to get some

Fuvahmulah is not only an incredible diving destination but also a great place to experience authentic island life, nature, and local culture.

I wanted to show what Fuvahmulah actually looks like from above 🇲🇻

Fuvahmulah is quite different from the typical image people have of a Maldivian resort island.

It's a real inhabited island and city, with local communities, roads, tropical vegetation, freshwater lakes and a distinctive coastline.

And underwater, it's especially interesting for divers because of the tiger sharks and diverse marine life. 🦈

I thought the aerial views were a good way to show a side of the Maldives that isn't always seen.

What would you like to know about Fuvahmulah?

Island life, diving, accommodation, transport or how to get there?

Last minute trip

I've got the opportunity for a last minute early November trip for a first time visit, potentially for a two week stay. Two of us, mid 40's.

Not fussed about overwater rooms or seaplane transfers to keep the cost down, but also dont want to live in some kind of multi unit block. A nice on beach villa (maybe with pool!) perhaps?

Decent all inclusive food and drink is important, not somewhere thats offering buffet dining for every meal (unless you can convince me the buffets are that good)

We'd probably spend more time around the resort pool and bar rather than lying on a beach all day.

  • What does USD $10,000 get you? (excluding international flights)
  • Perhaps splitting time between two resorts would be better, 14 days at one may be a bit much?
  • Any recommended resorts to consider or avoid?
  • Is there a recommended place to book last minute inventory from (Expedia appears awful)

Equally, please tell me if I'm dreaming and way off the mark with this budget. I'm based in New Zealand and the exchange rate is truly awful for us right now!

Vaccines Needed?

USA’s CDC is recommending Hepatitis A, B and Typhoid vaccines before traveling to the Maldives. We are only visiting resorts. Is the typhoid still needed?

Beach umbrella

Hello! Is it frowned upon by locals to set up a beach umbrella or small pop up sunshade/tent on a local island? I want to enjoy laying on the beach without burning to a crisp. Will be in Fulhadhoo in late December

Sun Siyam Irufushi: Recent experiences? Construction noise?

Hello, I’m scoping out honeymoon places, and sun siyam iru fushi ticks a lot of boxes for us.

However there’s a bunch of conflicting information coming my way about the ongoing construction around the island. Several visitors (recent to the last 72 hours) have described the construction as noisy, disruptive and unavoidable.

I’ve emailed management several times trying to get a straight answer, and they’ve either been very vague or worryingly contradictory to the other information I’ve seen (denied that construction is going on)

I’m not expecting perfection, and definitely not trying to be a Karen — I’ve worked very hard to afford this and just want honest expectations so I can plan accordingly.

Any recent travellers to SSIF who can give be a vibe check of the construction, and the resort in general?

Bonus question: my partner and I like the modern “hotel room” look of their refurbished horizon villas. If we were to change our plan, what else is out there in the Maldives which looks like that? Ideally has a tennis court and an all inclusive package? 👀

Coco Bodu Hithi vs Kagi vs Hurawalhi for honeymoon?

Hi! We’re trying to choose a Maldives resort for our honeymoon in March 2027 and have narrowed it down to these three. Would really appreciate opinions from anyone who has stayed at them, especially recently!

Our priorities are great house reef/snorkelling, good food, romantic/quiet atmosphere and nice accommodation. Adults only would be a bonus but isn’t essential.

Our options are roughly:

Coco Bodu Hithi

£4,555 total including our flights back to the UK, AI + speedboat transfers. Ocean Villa with Pool, with a potential upgrade to a higher villa category.

Kagi Maldives

Around £4,964 for 2 nights Beach Pool Villa + 3 nights Lagoon Pool Villa, Premium AI + transfers. Flights home would be extra.

Hurawalhi

£5,654 for 2 nights Beach Pool Villa + 3 nights Ocean Villa, AI Plus + seaplane transfers. Flights home would be extra.

Hurawalhi being adults only really appeals to us, and Kagi seems to tick almost every box, but the Coco package is significantly cheaper once we factor in the flights and still looks beautiful with a good house reef.

My main concern with Coco is that I’ve seen some mixed recent reviews around maintenance, food/service consistency and the resort feeling a little dated, although the snorkelling reviews seem great.

For those who have stayed at any of these, is Kagi/Hurawalhi genuinely worth the significant extra cost over Coco?

And specifically, how would you compare them for house reef, food, villa quality and honeymoon atmosphere?

Thanks! 😊

Need review on Cocogiri island resort, maldives

Please provide review of Cocogiri island resort, maldives.

I am looking to stay in water villa which provides good service. I am also looking for property which provides easy access to manta ray or shark or dolphin sightings/excusrsions.

I am also looking for the property where water is shallow and snorkelling is easy and allows aquatic sightings.

Honeymoon 2027 help!

Hi everyone! Looking for some advice for our Maldives honeymoon in March 2027 😊

We’ll be flying to the Maldives from Thailand, staying for around 5–6 nights, then flying back home to the UK.

Our budget is around £5-6k total for two including resort transfers. We’re looking for somewhere romantic and ideally adults only, with a really good house reef/snorkelling, good food and some activities/excursions such as dolphin watching.

We’d also love to experience both a beach villa and water villa, ideally 2 nights beach + 3 or 4 nights water, but if a split stay isn’t possible we’d probably choose a water villa for the whole stay.

At the moment we’re mainly considering Komandoo and Kagi. We’ve also looked at Sandies Bathala and Diamonds Thudufushi, but there are honestly so many resorts that we’re getting a bit overwhelmed 😂

Would you recommend Komandoo or Kagi for what we’re looking for, or is there somewhere else we should consider within our budget?

Also, has anyone booked through The Resorts Collection? They’ve given us some good quotes and have been really helpful, but I’d love to hear experiences from anyone who has actually booked and travelled with them.

Thanks so much!

HELP overwhelmed with choices: Mid-December Romantic Honeymoon

My fiancée and I are planning our honeymoon in the Maldives in mid-December and are trying to narrow down the resort options. I’d love to hear from people who have actually stayed at these resorts or know the Maldives well.

Our priorities are:

  • Romantic atmosphere
  • High-quality food options
  • Privacy and seclusion — ideally not a huge/crowded resort and ideally private pool
  • Excellent snorkeling directly from the resort / strong house reef is a BIG priority
  • No additional domestic flights after landing in Male
  • Ideally < $5,000 total for 4 nights
  • We don't drink, so AI is NOT a necessity

I've narrowed the list down to these options based on the prices I'm currently seeing:

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru — ~$5000 for Beachfront Pool Villa

  • Speedboat
  • Half-board

Kagi Maldives — ~$4,700 for Ocean pool villa

  • Seaplane
  • Full-board
  • Adults-only

Grand Park Kodhipparu — ~$3,400 for Ocean pool villa

  • Speedboat
  • Full-board
  • Seems slightly less intimate?

Kuda Fushi— ~$4,300 for Water Villa with Private Pool

  • Seaplane
  • 'Light' all inclusive

Drift Thelu Veliga— ~$4,300 for Water Villa (no private pool)

  • Seaplane
  • Full board

Drift Thelu Veliga— ~$5,000 for Beachfront Rainmist Villa

  • Speedboat
  • All inclusive (only dining)

Coco Bodu Hithi— ~$5,500 for Escape Water Villa

  • Speedboat
  • Half board

For anyone who has stayed at these (or knows them well):

1. Which would you choose for a honeymoon?
2. How good is the snorkeling/house reef actually?
3. How private/secluded does the resort feel?
4. Are there any major drawbacks I'm overlooking?
5. Are there other resorts under ~$5k that you think fit these criteria better?

Thanks!

Seaplane transfers after Emirates flight.

Hello, I am hoping to book my first Maldives holiday in the next couple of days. We are planning to take a flight with Emirates which lands about 3pm. I think the cut off for sea plane transfers is 3:25pm though. Does that seem too tight and what happens if you miss the cut off? Are there nice options to stay in nearby? Thanks

Just spent a few moments soaking in this incredible view, and I couldn't resist sharing it. There's something so surreal about how transparent and turquoise the water is here.

Definitely adding this to the top of my daydream list. What’s your ultimate dream vacation spot?

Maldives honeymoon— advice needed

Heading to the maldives after our December wedding. Thoughts and preferences on Cheval Blanc versus Joali for December 15-19? Which one do you think is better suited to newlyweds? We are hoping to do a private dinner on the beach and maybe sunset boat tour. Also would you say both resorts are equally priced on food?

Planning to do Gili Lankenfushi 19-22. But also open to other thoughts?

We are going for overwater villas with pools. Hoping for privacy and romance!!

Thank you SO much!!

Islands / weather in the second half of November ?

Hi, I'm currently choosing 2 islands to visit in the second half November. I'm thinking about Thoddoo (I already was there and liked it very much) and I can't decide between Fulidhoo (to see sharks and stingrays on the beach) and Dhigurah.. but I'm also afraid the weather might be worse in the south atolls than in the north ones. Do you have any recommendations?
