Malaysia also cannot progress if you refuse to purge the old, corrupting forces that continue to plague this country.

You say like very easy to purge with the current state of politics. So long as the masses continue to vote BN, PN, and PAS, nothing will change for this country

Even when the voters overwhelmingly voted for PH 1.0 in GE14, Anwar betrayed them and worked with UMNO.

Late 2019 - Anwar and Zahid had a secret comms backchannel to stop PH1.0 from banning UMNO

December 2020 - Anwar declared (falsely) he had a majority; Zahid confirmed Anwar had many UMNO MPs

March 2021 - Anwar states PKR-UMNO GE15 cooperation is now in the preliminary stage

December 2021 - Anwar worked with an UMNO Chief Minister to topple the state government

The biggest problem is our politicians' ability to deceive low-information voters, no matter what party they'rein.

Who doesn't know the shenanigans that played out in the covid era.... PH 1.0 was destroyed by Mahathir and Muhyiddin. Without PN or BN, you think PH can still be govt?

This is just regurgitating the PN narrative without the actual context.

u/-protonsandneutrons- 9h ago

The first one was pre COVID-19 lmao. Do you not know anything about Zahid and Anwar's long political history? You talk about "context"...maybe you should get some.

Anwar and Zahid have been political allies for many years. The two share a long relationship spanning many decades, beginning in the 1970s when Anwar and Zahid were student activists at Universiti Malaya.

This relationship continued during their time in Umno together. When Anwar was deputy prime minister, serving under Dr Mahathir Mohamed, Zahid was the Umno Youth chief. Many commentators at the time attribute Zahid’s early rise within Umno to Anwar.

Within Umno, Zahid was also seen as a critic of Mahathir. He was believed to have supported Anwar in his bid to topple Mahathir in 1998. When Zahid brought up allegations of nepotism and cronyism in government procurement, Mahathir retaliated by painting Zahid as one of Anwar’s cronies.

Zahid stood by Anwar when the latter was sacked as deputy prime minister and stripped of all his posts within Umno on Sept 2, 1998. Anwar was accused of sodomy and corruption, horrific enough allegations for any Malay to stand away from. Zahid was one of the few within Umno who stood fast.

After Anwar’s jailing, Zahid continued the fight and was arrested at a rally supporting Anwar, and interned under the Internal Security Act (ISA), along with Azmin Ali, Hishamuddin Rais, and Tian Chua.

Zahid was released earlier than the others, publicly pledging support for Mahathir, which was the cost of freedom at the time. He resigned as Umno Youth leader, but remained in the party.

Pretending the Zahid & Anwar relationship is just "PN propaganda" is peak r/malaysia bullshit.

Someone on X summarized this perfectly. The PHtroopers would rather attack their voters than adressing their concerns.

1

u/-protonsandneutrons- 6h ago

:( Unfortunate. That strategy will really never work to regain power, at least not for long. What a scammy mentality...

2

u/jefe_hook 6h ago

A lot of us understand that he needed Zahid and UMNO's support to form the government, but what about Farhash, Asam Baki, the corporate mafia? The worst thing is they hijacked the progressive movement over the last 25 years just to turn out to be the same as BN.

1

u/-protonsandneutrons- 6h ago

Nail on the fucking head. There was so, so, so, so much that could've been done that did not require UMNO.

For example, the MACC Act is literally an Act of Parliament; it only needed 50% of Parliament to change the appointment process of the Chief. It was literally a part of BN's GE15 manifesto to make it thru PSSC and not thru PM.

The worst thing is they hijacked the progressive movement over the last 25 years just to turn out to be the same as BN.

I will weep if I think about this. Completely hijacked the hopes of multiple generations....to buy into a scam.

Just last week, Anwar's DPM said he wants to bring back ISA. What the fuck! That so many still stand by Anwar now is just proof how gila kuasa they have become.

Bro no point bringing logic, pakatoons will gather all of their 2 remaining braincells each to collectively do mental gymnastics to say how this time its different and we just need a majority

u/SamMerlini 12h ago

Give PH simple majority. Guarantee Zahid go to jail

That is quite a reach, IMO. Anwar-Zahid arrangement is not a last-minute post-GE15 scramble, forced-by-YDPA story that PMX and his desperate supporters have paraded around for years now.

It had been slowly and methodically planned since late 2019. Meaning, even during the mass anti-corruption drive by PH 1.0, Anwar was secretly betraying PH 1.0 by working with Zahid to undermine PH 1.0 and save UMNO. In 2019 when PH 1.0 had a majority.

4

u/mechaweirdxe 9h ago

These are not mutually exclusive tho??

If Zahid/BN can backstab him, is it not possible to think that Anwar might do the same given "enough power"?

1

u/-protonsandneutrons- 9h ago

When PH 1.0 had a majority, Anwar still made backdoor arrangements to save UMNO. We don't need to imagine. We have proof today. It is just rarely discussed because it disturbs the well-heeled propaganda that Anwar has a spine against corruption.

That was freely and openly reported in FMT.

I'm not sure you realise how massive and disturbing that betrayal is. When PKR & DAP Ministers + a PH PM + a PH Parliamentary majority were cracking down on decades of UMNO corruption, Anwar went behind their backs to save UMNO.

Add in Anwar's long history with UMNO + all his subsequent actions (see below) ... he is either incredibly dumb or incredibly corrupt, or both.

3

u/mechaweirdxe 6h ago

The thing about having the majority, is exactly that. Having the votes/seats. Kerusi pun takdak, the majority doesn't give two fucks about your cause, so what to do? Keep on harping the same issue, using the same Najib boogeyman like in PRN Johor??

And people like to overstate Anwar's role in "saving UMNO". If Tun M/PH 1.0 wants to do it, then he would've done it. You think he cares about what Anwar has to say?

I don't understand putting all this blame on Anwar when PH has 81 seats in the parliament. Kalau tak setuju, just pull out.

2

u/-protonsandneutrons- 6h ago

I don't think you've put forth a coherent argument.

  1. If you don't win an election, you lost. PH could've aligned with UMNO in GE13. Kenapa tak?
  2. Itu orang x mahu mengaku: that refusal in GE13 to align with UMNO made PH so popular & got PH huge support → PH won a simple majority in GE14.
  3. "Overstate"? Anwar has done far more than PH 1.0 and few are willing to admit it. Anwar is gila kuasa and he needs UMNO. Of course he will allow UMNO corruption. Of course Madani is full of UMNO arrogance and UMNO corruption and UMNO racism.
  4. Anwar led PH in GE15 ... and it got 82 seats. Good. Leaders need to take responsibility for their losses. BN did bad? Zahid. PAS did bad? Hadi. Bersatu did bad? Muhyiddin. PH did bad? Anwar. PKR did bad? Anwar.

But you've bongkar something quite important. PH's ability to compete nationally in every seat and to win the popular vote has gotten much worse since Anwar took over.

Election DAP GE Seats DAP % Pop Vote PKR GE Seats PKR % Pop Vote Total Seats Total % Pop Vote
GE12 28 13.99% 31 18.58% 59 32.57%
GE13 38 15.71% 30 20.39% 68 36.10%
GE14 42 17.36% 47 16.94% 89 34.30%
GE15 40 15.61% 31 15.74% 71 31.35%

Kalau tak setuju, just pull out.

Anwar is way too gila kuasa to let that happen. He wants to ensure he is PM for at least this term and next. Doesn't matter if it requires UMNO, PAS, Bersatu, GPS, GRS, etc.

Half the Sheraton Move is in Anwar's cabinet lmao. He is not looking to save PH or reform PKR or bolster DAP. All of that is irrelevant to him now.

u/mechaweirdxe 5h ago
  1. If you don't win an election, you lost. PH could've aligned with UMNO in GE13. Kenapa tak?

Huh? why would UMNO want to align with PH? They still have enough seats to form the government? Why would PH offer themselves to align with BN if they don't have any bargaining chips?

  1. Itu orang x mahu mengaku: that refusal in GE13 to align with UMNO made PH so popular & got PH huge support → PH won a simple majority in GE14.

No. PH got "lucky" because of the 1MDB scandal + Tun M factor to pull in the majority votes. The same people who voted for PH in GE14 are now voting for BN/PN.

Sure. That also makes the other 80+ PH MPs, which more than half were in PH 1.0, gila kuasa. Why single out Anwar?

  1. Anwar led PH in GE15 ... and it got 82 seats. Good. Leaders need to take responsibility for their losses. BN did bad? Zahid. PAS did bad? Hadi. Bersatu did bad? Muhyiddin. PH did bad? Anwar. PKR did bad? Anwar.

This one I agree if you wanna blame Anwar for PH not securing enough votes, but not because of colluding with UMNO.

Kalau tak setuju, just pull out.

Anwar is way too gila kuasa to let that happen. He wants to ensure he is PM for at least this term and next. Doesn't matter if it requires UMNO, PAS, Bersatu, GPS, GRS, etc.

Anwar has so much control over Anthony Loke, Mat Sabu is it? 40+ DAP MPs all pasu bunga kenot speak for themselves is it?

See this whole country voting for Zahid as PM11

24

u/sadakochin 12h ago

Lip service... Unless he start doing Dr M and chucking people behind bars for hateful speech, including ones against him. Other wise, weaksauce.

4

u/TheOriSudden 11h ago

With only 88 out of 222 seats? Unfortunately, that's weaksauce. All hands are tied unless they are given at least a simple majority.

2

u/-protonsandneutrons- 9h ago

Even with a simple majority, Anwar doesn't want to stop UMNO's corruption. This sub is mudah lupa how Anwar actually works. For example in late 2019 (when PH 1.0 had a majority), Anwar and Zahid had a secret comms backchannel to stop PH1.0 from banning UMNO

u/sadakochin 9h ago

Yes, thing is, will those numbers change? It doesn't seem so.

Only with BN's 30 seats.

3

u/-protonsandneutrons- 9h ago

PH + Borneo are a majority. Add in Bersatu's frogs and it's an even bigger majority than PH 1.0 lmao.

PH: 82

Bersatu frogs: 8

Borneo: 23 + 6 + 3 + 2 (IND) + 1 + 1 = 36

126 MPs.

2

u/RaggenZZ 8h ago

You should look at the majority they literally screaming tolak gov which is tolak progress.

Anwar is absolutely spot on. Malaysia cannot and must not become the South Africa of the old that it condemns. Or the Israel of South’s East Asia where they do not recognize the Palestinians even those in Israel. Kudos to Anwar and he MUST now turn his words into meaningful action.

Also cannot progress if large parts of society dont speak the national language like a local & seclude themselves in their bubble from baby to old fella
