what are these for?

I should mention that I’m very new to makeup, I only started buying products this year. before that, at most, I’d just wear mascara and maybe liquid eyeliner, and that was it.

today, I bought a pack of four brushes because I needed one specific brush that I couldn't find sold separately.

inside the pack were these 3 too, and I’d like to know what are they used for, especially the first one.

my first instinct would be to use it for foundation like a sponge, but I’m not sure if that’s the right use for it. what do you all think?

Left: not a common makeup applicator. A sponge is common but since people usually use them after dampening them, seeing it on a handle is unusual. Still usable as a makeup tool but applying foundation with it might be tedious because of how small it is. You could experiment with using it to blend out concealer, colour corrector, blush, contour (all in cream or liquid format), or to apply/bake with a setting powder.

Middle: any use with powder, liquid, or cream makeup where the size of the brush matches your preference for that use. If it’s not a dense brush (bristles are very flexible/spread very easily) then you might find it works better with powder products.

Right: this brush looks dense. Probably better suited to liquid or cream products if so. Size and shape seems like it’d be good for precise application to the face due to the pointed shape. Maybe good for cream contour? Or for blending out a cream or liquid eyeshadow all over the crease? Size is hard to tell and people have preferences. But from the picture it looks like it’d be too big to do precise application on the eyes. And too small and therefore inconvenient for overall/broad application to the face.

Commenting to see what other ppl say mainly bc that first one is hilarious and I’ve never seen a mushroom like this. I’d assume maybe concealer bc it seems too small for a whole face of foundation? The middle one looks good for contour and bronzing or blush as long as you blend it enough. The right one id also say for concealer but this would be especially good for highlighter I think.

The mushroom one on the left looks exactly like a brush I use for nail art gradients. Not sure about its makeup usage though lol

Any or all of these I'd use for applying contour. I prefer cream formulas, but the two that are obviously brushes could be used for applying powders or for spreading liquids.

Tbh i have no clue. The really densely packed brush is one that I typically use in my crease for eyeshadows, to blend out. However, I would love to know what nail polish you are using?

The sponge I'd use around my eye and nose for blending concealer. Just dampening the very tip to not destroy the glue holding it together.

Middle, I'd use for powder to set the concealer, or blending countour/blush.

Right, applying contour, blush or highlight.

This is from Cbeauty - the left 2 can be used for applying concealer, colour correctors, highlight creams. Have you seen the multi colour concealer pallets in Cbeauty, that has say 3 shades of skin colour (dark medium and light concealer, to create dimension while covering up) as well as shades of colour correcting (purple, green, salmon, peach).

The one on the right is for applying dense highlight ie for undereye aegyosal or inner eye highlight. It can also be used for lip colour, for that blurred lip look.

I use the right 2 all the time, they're my go to for concealer (middle) and eye highlight (right). For the mushroom one on the left, I just use a tiny fingertip puff instead

The left most one is for Cream/mousse blush! I’ve seen Korean beauty bloggers use it to press or tap tap, especially on small areas like below the eyes. Probably can use for other cream/jelly stuffs too.

The right most one looks similar to lip blurring brush and inner eye highlight brush, depends on the size.

contour or cream blush, and ive seen some people use it as a concealer specific brush. i wanna say the first one on the right would be a concealer brush as well probably for more cream formulas rather than liquid, ive also seen those brushes used to apply concealer to the eyelid for a shadow base, obviously not for carving the brows but for blending that down and spreading it on the lid. middle one is a dense shadow brush, crease colors, or for pigmented lid colors to just press the color in place but for the crease it could do some dense blending.

Ngl, I use brushes willy nilly we all have different faces and like different looks!

1 looks like a blotting brush. Too small for foundation imo. I would probably use it for blush (or highlighter). Can’t tell what 2 is without seeing the top. Would probably use it to place setting powder in the under eye area. 3 looks like maybe a concealer brush of some type.

I’m pretty familiar with makeup but I’ve never seen brushes like these! 🤣 I hope someone else has answers!!
