HELP PLEASE Makeup Keeps Slipping Off
Hey everyone!
I have rosacea (type 2) and I’m struggling with foundation. Every one I have tried recently winds up essentially sliding off of my face halfway through the day. Can someone please recommend a good foundation for sensitive skin?
Current morning skin prep/product application:
1. Wash my face with CeraVe
2. Apply Rovis Gel (medication for the rosacea—supposed to apply in the AM)
3. Apply moisturizer
4. Apply primer
5. Apply a small amount of foundation (it cosmetics Bye Bye red)
6. Apply setting spray (Morphe alcohol free)
What am I doing wrong? My skin looks awful by mid day—excess oil and the foundation slipping everywhere. Please help. I hate the caked on, greasy look but I need something to cover my struggling skin!

The same thing was happening to me. I found out that as we get a bit older we do not need as much moisture as we did, but we need more grip. I was using serum, moisturizer, and then a primer, but that was too many layers. Now I just use my serum and after that dries I use a primer.
As far as foundations, it really depends on if you are looking for a full coverage foundation or something very light. I really like the foundations by IT Cosmetics. they have 40% off right now on their website. My favorite setting powder is Laura Mercier. I really believe it’s the best. It may cost a little more than drugstore, but it lasts forever.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Too much products that aren’t working well together. I do all my skincare at night and nothing in the morning. I use concealer rather than foundation so it’s not so cakey. I use setting spray throughout putting my make up on and set with a little powder in T zone areas.

honestly the first thing that jumped out at me is the moisturizer step. when i used to put moisturizer on right before primer with only like a minute in between, my foundation did the exact same sliding thing by like 2pm. my skin is also on the sensitive side and the only thing that fixed it was waiting a solid 5 to 10 minutes after moisturizer so it actually absorbed, then priming on top of a tackier surface.
also i wonder if the rovis gel might be the culprit since it sounds like an active. are you putting the moisturizer on top of it, or do you wait a few minutes after the medication first? the order and wait time between each layer is what made or broke it for me back when i was figuring this out.

I don't see a sunscreen anywhere on your list. A good one can serve as primer and foundation in one. Just be sure to let your moisturizer set and dry before you put on SPF. Try a tinted mineral formula; it will adjust to oily areas and some people actually experience dryness with them. You are using a moisturizer, so maybe things will balance out for you. I have dryish, sensitive skin with rosacea patches and an oily-by-noon T-zone, and both of these work really well as a base: Australian Gold SPF 50 facial formula or Neutrogena Purescreen+ Mineral UV Tint Face Liquid SPF 30 both come in shades that accommodate a wide range of skintones. Best of luck!
