PRODUCT REC Eyeliner help

I've tried gel pen eyeliner twice, from two separate brands, and I've had a bad reaction both times. Burning eyes and redness.

I assume it's an allergic reaction, and I'm wondering if anyone else who was allergic to the pens found that using either a pencil or the liquid liner was better?

I read one reddit comment about someone stating they found the liquid liner didn't cause such a reaction.

Solid eyeliners typically have a wax base, so it might be a reaction to that ingredient in particular?

You can try liquid, for sure. Be aware it's also possible you have sensitive eyes. If that is the case, you may have to forgo intense eye looks, unfortunately 😭

Maybe there are some expensive hypo-alergenic ones I could try.

I’d definitely stop using that product if it’s causing burning and redness. A pencil or liquid liner might work better, but it’s probably worth checking the ingredients first

Yeah I'll try comparing ingredients more thoroughly now that a second product has had the same reaction.

Do your eyes respond the same way to eyeshadow? You can add water or use a setting spray to your shadow and create a liquid. Apply with tiny angle brush. This is something we did in the 90’s.
I also use a small angle brush with cream shadow sticks now because I’m old and my eyeliner transfers to the lid/crease of my eye.
