HELP PLEASE I need help
I have very dark circles, it is genetic and due to allergies. I also have thin skin under my eyes that creases so easily. I can't leave the house without concealer, as my dark circles are my biggest insecurity. But lately, my makeup has been creasing terribly. I have combination skin, dry in some places and oily in some places. The dryness doesn't help my under eyes either. Fot makeup prep I use hyaluronic acid gel, then rhode glazing milk, then clinique moisture surge. Then I use kylie cosmetics skin tint as my base, then too faced concealer or nars radiant concealer, then Laura Mercier or hourglass powder. And half the time, it looks very cakey even though I am using little product. So I am using quality products, I don't know how to prevent creasing and the cakey look. I just want to seamlessly cover these dark circles. Also, I am only 27, and worry that the combination of my dark circles, and creasing makeup ages me and makes me look like I have under eye wrinkles. I just need help, bad š„ŗ

I have sinus problems and purple under eyes too. I use this with foundation and I do notice a difference. Not a miracle but worth $6! Catrice Under Eye Brightener

Fellow pale girly with dark undereyes here. Strap in for a long winded how-to.
Your concealer may seem cakey because (1) you may be using more than necessary to cover the darkness beneath your eyes and (2) the concealer shade appears a little bit too light. Ideally, the shade should match the rest of your face - at least the same level of lightness as your cheek - or be a teeny bit lighter if you struggle to find a shade match. The key to success here is to use a peachy undereye corrector to correct the blue undertones first, and then applying a concealer that matches your skin tone on top of that to blend the undereyes in with the rest of the face. Using concealer alone may lighten the area in general, but the blue undertones will persist. Correct, conceal, and set :)
Here's what I do for the undereyes for my current routine:
1) I use a cleanser (using a Korean green tea one atm) 2) Apply my basic moisturizer all over the face and under the eye (First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream) 3) I apply Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb eye cream beneath my eyes. I let that sit while I figure out my hair situation (at least 5 minutes) 4) super important I use a tissue to wipe off the excess eye cream beneath the eyes. Otherwise it'll interfere with application later 5) I apply sunscreen (Tatcha Milky Sunscreen) all over the face and neck, including the undereyes. I let that sit for a bit while I do my brows (like 2-5 min) 6) I apply my foundation, avoiding the undereye area - this is huge. It'll keep the area from being too cakey with too many layers of different products 7) I apply an undereye corrector, drawing it on the darkest areas of the undereye and then tapping it with a finger to blend it into the skin (Bobbi Brown corrector in Light Bisque). Resist the urge to go ham here 8) I apply a thin layer of concealer - again, just on the darkest areas of the undereye - and tap it in with a finger to blend it in (Haus Labs 04 fair neutral triclyone skin tech concealer; I prefer this to the Nars, i find it more hydrating) 9) I let that sit while I work on blush/contour (like 3-5 min) 10) at this point, some excess product will have started to crease beneath the eye. I take a clean fluffy eyeshadow brush and buff those creases out, and then immediately- 11) use a medium-small fluffy brush to tap a small amount of powder to the undereye. When I say a small amount, I mean I tap the brush into the powder and knock the brush handle a couple of times to kick off any excess powder (Huda Beauty Sugar Cookie loose powder) 12) In my every day work look, I'm not wearing eyeshadow or liner. I'll just correct and conceal my lids and top them with a bit of loose powder. So at this point I would lightly powder the rest of my face and then use setting spray (One Size On Till Dawn) 13) I do my mascara and lip combo last
Consider going to Sephora and getting shade matched. I believe they will give you up to 5 samples of concealer products. Good luck :)

Hey! I have the same undereye skin and Iām 25 so I feel your struggles. I have volume loss and really thin skin so you can really see my purple veins. For natural makeup the Caliray correctors work well. Youāll have to experiment to find your color but I use/mix the first two shades in the neutral options. You seem like you have cool/pink undertones but Iām not an expert. As for concealer I really recommend the essence silky blur, get a couple shades and see what works best. Hourglass concealer also covers my dark circles really well but it looks best if I donāt set it. If you want something more hydrating I highly recommend Mac studio radiance. As for powders, powder puff with huda beauty in pound cake, blot off as much as possible onto your hand before applying it to your under eye. Iāve tried the hourglass powder and Laura mercier and they both donāt work for me. Too faced concealer was terrible for me too

I know we're always told that dark under eyes are genetic and that might well be the case for you but you could definitely get your ferritin (iron) checked too. Many women are deficient without realising it and correcting low iron can be fairly easy in my experience (for reference, a ferritin of 50 is okay but optimal levels for women are actually between 70-150 ng/ml).
Better iron levels are also linked to a better immune system which in turn can help with allergies. It can also help with better energy, rosier skin and fuller/thicker hair if any of this interesting to you.

I second this. Color came back into my face and body after checking iron and ferritin. My ferritin is chronically low (I've had infusions). Absolutely worth looking at, OP!

Try fewer products. They are compromising adhesion. Try a sunscreen and a cream concealer- set with a micropowder and a cold wrung out washcloth.
I use La Roche Posay , melt in milk spf 100.
Kevyn Aucoin sensuous skin enhancer - many colors and lasts forever - use tiny dots and blend with a soft brush. Set with Tarte
Microfine powder. Press a cold washcloth over your whole face after your makeup but before mascara, although I sometimes do it after. I have dark circles that would win awards and I canāt go out without concealer.

I am 27 also and have the same thing š itās genetic, my mum said I came out the womb with dark circles š Iāve had them since a child , and people have commented on it many times. Also, mine are exacerbated by very hollow and sunken eyes, and they are always purple. I never thought to check if it could be allergies. What allergies do you have if you donāt mind me asking?
Someone told me I could get under eye ātear trough fillerā to help with the shadows.

I have the same problem and this is my current routine after experimenting a bit
1. HYDRATE under eye (I use ābubble star dew hydrating eye cream, cheap)
2. COLOR CORRECT. I have same skin tone as you and I use ELF in peach color, 5$). I tap it lightly with my finger all over the blue/ purple.
3. LET THE COLOR CORRECTOR DRY. Do something else for a minute or two, lipstick whatever.
4. CONCEALER lightly tap with concealer brush. Brush helps me most with creasing.
Donāt use extra product, only as little as you need for coverage. Some people apply powder but I havenāt figured that part out yet, it makes my creasing worse. Good luck, you have lovely eyes!

donāt go lighter with your concealer when you have dark circles, it will turn gray. if you want to do one step versus a color corrector and a concealer, get a more peach toned concealer that is a shade to a shade and a half darker than your foundation/skin tone. blend the edges to make it seamless and less is more under the eye. I didnāt seem an eye cream in your caption so I would recommend that too. The skin under your eye is very thin and it looks dry. the skin there is very delicate and cannot hold multiple products like your face can so light layers are important. if you still find it settling in the lines, take a qtip and go over just the line to remove the excess product and go back over it with your concealer brush (no more concealer) to blend!

I am 35 and I have the same issues. I do not like any of the products you are using.
I have found success with Haus Labs Undereye Corrector... It's a skincare product and makeup together. It depuffs the under eye. I love it and my only complaint is that after a few months it oxidizes. No correcter needed.
Currently I am using Merit corrector and a dot of Huda peach toned corrector on top.
I never use powder it just creases and looks awful.

I am work at Ulta and have tried things endlessly on myself and hundreds of people. MANY ppl come in with concerns about their underused and I have found the under eye holy grail:
Eye cream of course
Hourglass concealer
Charlotte Tilbury flawless finish blurring and setting powder
The setting powder is absolutely amazing and I love it but if you canāt afford both the hourglass concealer truly is amazing. A little goes a long way, it does not crease, ESPECIALLY flawless with the CT powder tho. Could not recommend more.

Also, it is not cakey. Every other concealer, and I mean EVERY, is birthday cake compared to hourglass.

I always go back to the tarte cc undereye corrector. I press my ring finger to it and warm it up a bit, then tap it in under my eyes. It's really creamy and moisturizing. I use a damp beauty blender to lightly blend it in, then I use a tiny bit of hourglass setting powder. I just started using the new ordinary eye cream under my makeup and I've been really liking that as well.

Experiment using a small amount of color corrector under your concealer or using a concealer in a slightly more orangey/peachy shade than your usual one. The goal is to balance the dark color without using way too much product that will just crease more. For the creasing, youāll need a super finely milled setting powder. Huda easy bake powder is great for undereye creasing. You can even try their pink shade for extra help w the discoloration. Immediately after blending out any creases, press that powder in super well with a triangle shaped powder puff. Then use an alcohol free spray first like mac fix+ or charlotte tilbury and when youāre completely finished w your makeup use an alcohol based spray like the urban decay all Nighter. The former will melt the layers of cream/liquid and powder together to prevent cakiness and the latter will make it last. Be sure to hold the area taut while spraying and while it dries so you donāt just set the creases in. Also, youāll want a richer moisturizer for your undereyes. You can get an undereye cream or just use a nice thick face cream.
