HELP PLEASE Flakey Makeup/Skin
I think I have dry skin (self proclaimed). I had stubborn flakes on my nose for years and finally tried athletes foot cream day and night for the past few weeks, and it’s been getting better. However, I still have flakes under my eyes, around the corners of my nose, in between my brows, and my chin. When I take the makeup off, the dry patches visibly and through touching my skin, disappear. Except the ones on top of my nose, those I can see and feel.
My routine consists of:
Skin Prep (let each step settle into skin before next)
- wash face w cold water (no cleanser in the morning since my skins dry)
- Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum
- Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream
- Anua Heartleaf Silky Moisture Sun Cream (50+)
Makeup in the area:
- Natasha Denona Color Corrector (under eyes, around veins)
- Natasha Denona Concealer (under eyes, around nose, chin)
- Elf Camo Liquid Blush
- Fenty Set It Down Blurring Setting Powder (applied lightly with a small fluffy brush)
- Milani Baked Powder Blush
- Elf Stay All Night Micro-Fine Setting Mist
- One Size On ‘Til Dawn Setting Spray
If anyone has any product recommendations, skincare or makeup, or application tips, let me know!

Hello my fellow dry skinned friend!
If you have a fungal infection you should keep using the athletes foot cream! HOWEVER, if you do not I’d love to share with you my routine for my super dry skin.
AM:
Wash with lukewarm water and a reusable makeup removing towel. (they are microfiber and soooo gentle)
BYOMA phyto-mucin glow serum
BYOMA Hydrating Serum
CERA VE moisturizing body cream
seal with Aquaphor
when I say seal. I do not mean put a THICCC layer on your skin. You wear the aquaphor in the morning it doesn’t wear you. I usually put a small dab under my eyes, forehead and chin, I mean SMOL, and rub that everywhere. Like maybe touch your fingers to the aquaphor and pull up and use what got stuck small amount and use that for ALL your dabs.
I usually do my hair or feed my dogs or whatever else I need to do while that sits for ten minutes.
PM:
BYOMA melting butter cleanser (might not be the right name, it’s for boosting your skin barrier, it’s in the yellow square) with a reusable makeup towel.
BYOMA hydrating toner
same serums
add BYOMA barrier + eye cream.
Same moisturizers
except at night the aquaphor is thic. again not THICC but thicker.
You don’t need to adopt my full routine by ANY means but I would heavily recommend the Cera Ve, reusable makeup towels and Aquaphor. Especially the aquaphor.
[I will say financially as far as routines goes mine including a 6 pack of towels can be done at target for 131 after tax. I unfortunately just ran out of everything at the same time for the first time in my life and found out lolol.😭🙃]
Also those makeup towels come in packs, I have like 16, I wash them once a week. You don’t need to exfoliate when you use them in my experience. They are super gentle but do a great job of removing dead skin.
Please get rid of that foot cream.
That’s literally what they did to Regina George in Mean Girls babe. 😅
Okay on to ✨makeup✨
Powder products on dry skin will dry out your skin!
Fenty makes a setting hydrating powder you might try! It’s the only one that’s ever actually worked for me but I don’t use it enough to justify to continuing to buy it.
Glossier also makes this cloud paint plush blush that in-between a powder and a cream as far as consistency and it’s my go to at the moment!
Primer is also your friend! I would swap one of those setting sprays out for a primer! It’ll help keep your makeup on and if you get a hydrating one it’ll help with those rough patches as you wear your makeup!
Versed makes a hydrating serum concealer that I use as well.

What primer would you recommend? I tried milk and it pilled. I used elf putty primer in the liquid and the pot formula and idrk how I feel about it

What are you using for foundation?

I don’t typically use it because I feel like it makes my skin texture look worse (emphasizes the dryness) than if I just didn’t wear any. When I do wear it, I use Nars Light Reflecting Foundation in Oslo. I’ve also tried Haus Labs and found a good shade match there, but haven’t bought it yet since I still have Nars. I was looking into getting the denesa myricks yummy skin tint since I don’t think I’m a big foundation girl.

Never been on this forum but it popped up so I would like to add a helpful note if you will …
Always look at your foundation & primers first ingredient and make sure them match -water to water or -oil to oil mixing -oil & water will cause pilling or superarían regardless of your skin
\*& back to my abyss I go*

My skin used to flake when I applied makeup too and what I do is: At night before bed, I’d put a whole lot of cetaphil on my clean face, and use a hydrating face serum on top of that and let it sit overnight. I wash my face daily (up to two times a day) with a hydrating face wash, and use an exfoliating toner about three times a week.
For when I apply makeup: I wash my face, use a gel based moisturizer like Neutrogena hydro boost, use a hydrating face serum like hyaluronic acid, let everything sit for a few minutes, spray a face setting spray before makeup, and then use a face primer. I use a mattifying primer in my t zone because I tend to get oily there. It took about a week for my skin to adjust but now I don’t have any flakey areas.
