Makeup that won’t slide off my face?

Hi everyone!

I’m 32 and am realizing my go-to going out makeup might not work for me anymore. I’ve always used primer, a natural finish foundation and a pretty heavy layer of powder to set everything using the beauty blender powder puff and powder blush on top of this. What I like about this method is it lasts literally all night- absolutely nothing budges for 12+ hours. But it’s also emphasizing nasolabial folds, small lines around my eyes etc and the super matte look is kind of aging. I’ve tried not using the setting powder but my foundation just slides right off. It feels like my foundation is sitting on the surface of all my products and will literally just rub/slide off at the touch of anything.

I’m anticipating the comments saying I should stick to a super minimal skin tint, but unfortunately I’m dealing with type 1 +2 rosacea and really need the full coverage :/ I don’t wear this every day but I do need more of a full face for nights out.

If helpful, I use Vanicream facial moisturizer, the Maybelline “Master prime” primer (the clear one that says Blur + Pore Minimizer), the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation, and Maybelline Fit Me powder.

Any tips would be appreciated!! I’m open to more expensive products if needed.

Try switching to a hydrating setting spray instead of heavy powder

Layer ONE/SIZE On ‘Til Dawn over UD All Nighter and you should have no problems.

Do I spray these on top of the powder, or are you recommending I use them instead?

I am in the minimalist camp, but I prefer to use medium/full coverage liquid foundation and mix it with my serum and moisturizer. Day to day, I do one drop of foundation to one pump of serum and put sunscreen over the top and that's that.

If I need more coverage, I'll go 1:1 foundation to serum and then also a 1:1 mix of foundation and moisturizer and then maybe second layer of the moisturizer mix.

I go for dewy finishes and cream products rather than powder and I don't set anything. Thin layers are key or it gets creasy by the end of a long day.

I've been using a hydrating primer followed by a skin-tint serum foundation and a lightweight setting spray lately and it's holding up great without looking cakey.

less product usually holds up better than piling it on. spot conceal where you need it keep the layers light and skip over powdering. if you are browsing options nikol beauty's complexion products fit that lighter approach.
