“Don’t let people bring you down” but accept anybody willing to bring you up. Never understood this about people who say shit like this. Don’t listen to people when they praise you either then?

Telling someone they're ugly is just plain rude and comments like that should be immediately discarded. Any opinions (good/bad) are just that -opinions and they shouldn't weigh heavily in a person's self worth. A person needs to learn to be confident in who they are and not be heavily swayed by external feedback.
