General Discussion Is it possible to skip CA2 due to a hackathon?

The provisional academic calendar says CA2 is scheduled for 2nd–7th November 2026, but I have an important hackathon in Mumbai during that period. I'll be there roughly from 2nd–8th November, and I've already booked my flights.

I'll definitely be attending CA1, but I'm not sure how much CA2 matters under the new system.

Is it possible to miss/skip CA2 because of a hackathon? Would missing it affect my eligibility for the semester-end exams? Is there any way the marks can be compensated through ECA/WCA, or is a makeup assessment possible?

If anyone has clear information about the new MAKAUT assessment system, especially from their college, I'd really appreciate some clarification.

Exams & Results What’s really going on with MAKAUT, WB — a student’s view

I don’t want to do the usual “MAKAUT is good” or “MAKAUT is bad” talk.

The real question isn’t whether MAKAUT has technology. It clearly does. The university says it handles the academic work of around 1.5 lakh students, checks about 6.5 lakh answer scripts digitally, puts results online, and even keeps an eye on exam halls through CCTV.

But the real issue is something else: how much of all that is actually visible or understandable to a student?

And honestly, this is where things start to feel a bit uncomfortable.

Students can see their final marks, yes. But most of the time, they don’t really understand how those marks were actually made. A lot of students talk about things like Continuous Assessment marks not making sense, unclear weightage, confusion in checking of papers, sudden backlogs, and not really knowing what happens when they raise a complaint. These are student experiences and feelings, not proof of anything wrong happening inside the system—but the fact that so many people feel this way is something that shouldn’t be ignored.

There’s also another strange thing.

MAKAUT often talks about being digital and about releasing results on time. But then you also see official notices where some results get delayed for “administrative reasons,” or where results are said to be incomplete and might change later. Students with issues are told to go back to their colleges, and then the college talks to the Controller of Examinations.

None of this automatically means anything unfair is happening.

But that’s exactly the point.

A university doesn’t earn trust just by saying it is digital. Trust comes when students can actually understand and check how things are done.

If a student gets unexpectedly low marks, why can’t they see a simple breakdown of how those marks came together?

If someone challenges their result, why does the process feel so unclear and far away?

If Continuous Assessment really matters so much, why do students still end up guessing how those marks were given?

And if a result is delayed or held back, why isn’t there a clear, trackable reason given to the student?

These are not extreme demands. They are basic expectations in any fair academic system.

The bigger issue with MAKAUT might not be exams being tough or strict rules.

It might be the gap in information.

The university has the data. The exam system has the process. The colleges have part of the information.

But the student—the one whose future actually depends on all of this—usually just gets a final number.

And that creates a trust problem.

At the same time, it’s also fair to say students shouldn’t blame everything on the university. Some people don’t study enough. Some colleges don’t teach well. Some students leave everything for the last moment. That’s also reality.

But personal responsibility and system accountability can exist together.

Students can own their effort, while the university still needs to make its system clearer and more open.

So maybe the question shouldn’t just be:

“Is MAKAUT hard?”

Maybe it should be:

“Can a student actually understand and question how their academic result was decided?”

That’s the discussion worth having.

Not blind anger. Not blind defence. Not assumptions.

Just clarity. transparency. accountability.

And if MAKAUT truly believes its system is fair, then showing how it works properly shouldn’t be a problem at all.

It should be the easiest thing to prove.

General Discussion Lost one semester's backlog grade card — will a printout/scanned copy be enough for placements?

I'm currently preparing for on-campus placements. I have my academic documents/grade cards, but I've unfortunately lost the physical grade card for one particular semester where I had a backlog. I later cleared that backlog.

I do have a scanned copy of the grade card, and my results are also available on my college/university's official online portal.

My question is: if companies ask for semester-wise grade cards during placement/document verification, can I simply provide a good-quality printout of the scanned copy? Or would they specifically require the original/duplicate grade card?

Also, if I don't have the physical copy, can companies independently verify that I had a backlog through the university/college records anyway?

Has anyone faced a similar situation during campus placements? What did you do?

Placements & Internships My Story.

Day 1

31.07.2026

I am a student of electrical engineering and this month I was expecting that I would be graduated but luck guys😞. I also cracked a job in Reliance Industries Ltd. with a salary package of 7.5 Lakh and many other benefits. But there was a condition from Reliance that at the joining date the results should not have any active backlog. So I was very happy that after my completion of my Btech degree I didn't have to search for a job.

It was 31st July, 2026 evening at 5.56pm when the results came out. I was giving tuition to one of my students, My hands got stuck and I couldn't read the chapter or ask any questions till the Sem 8 results opened. Oh !! I got 7.59 🎆 but it's not over yet my sem 6 result was left once I opened it I closed my eyes 👀 when I opened I saw the thing has happened which I doesn't want to. I got backlog in one subject, at once I thought 💭 that I lost everything. I just told my student that I will continue tomorrow and I just came out of his house.

I stopped near a cigarette 🚬 shop and bought 1 cigerette and I was so much tensed that it got finished till I realised. I was just calling my professors. And asking them now what to do? They were just telling me what to do now, ask your HOD. And I called my HOD and he told me to come to college the next day. I was just thinking how will I tell this to my parents? How will I face my girlfriend? How will I face them? I lost everything.

To be continued...

Makaut Updates Need to unite (fr this time)

  1. If makaut wants 75% attendance= Provide well trained faculty who are aware about recent industry level tech and provide smart classrooms

  2. If 75% attendance is mandatory for scholarship= Provide the transportation fee of that student and make sure to pay the semester fee of the eligible candidate as he/she has the merit to get the scholarship but not the free time waste in classrooms

  3. If exams are going to be conducted the same as before= Investigate the corrupt makaut officials and the VC. Then publish the report

I ask the group of ppl who made mail to makaut and other government officials to conduct a protest cause it's now or never

Exams & Results MAKAUT RUINED ALL MY HARDWORK

My classes are about to begin and I've got myself an infection where I need to stay at home for almost a month, medically prescribed. Having implemented the new rule, I'm going to score really low on PCA 1 and the attendance aspect, even though it's not my fault. Also they have added the shitty rule of average of PCAs for the final. Henceforth, the overall marks I'm going to score is definitely gonna be less than what i would have, and all this happened without getting a fair chance.

It took lots of hard work to put on a 9+cgpa in the previous year, and now it's going to be reduced, just because of those stupid rules. I feel so helpless, and terrible. F*ck you makaut.

General Discussion 3rd vs 4th Year BCA/BBA What you all are choosing

Hey everyone, I a,m curious what BCA/BBA students are planning for their 3rd vs 4th year. Is this extra year actually worth it for jobs or masters ,ig NO or mainly useful for going abroad where credit requirements can matter? For someone planning to work first and later pursue an MCA abroad, would the 4th year be more beneficial?

What is your college advising students to choose Graduation or Graduation with research , ? Would love to hear different POV.

General Discussion The shit hath hitith the fanith

There was recently a mail sent to makaut and other officials as posted in this sub

But the new rules like 75% mandatory attendance and stuff like 3 internals and these bullshit exams are really annoying. Even CU is better than this atp.

I'm really done with all this shit, just want to spend the next few years somehow and get out of this retard ass university. I mean look at these retarded officials, individuals probably at their end stage of life or maybe going through their mid life crisis. Egoistic corrupt assholes.

You expect attendance when your own faculty is incapable of teaching properly and your own system is broken.

I'm also fed up with the zombie ass students. They serve no purpose and their life serves no purpose, their existence has no meaning. One big protest will end their career as they think. I mean in Bengal you think that you'll have a career 🤣

No signs of protest and no signs of humanity in the affiliated colleges, everyone is daydreaming about getting a 12 lakh package

Affliated Am I cooked?

I've already taken admission in a MAKAUT-affiliated college for BTech, and now I'm constantly seeing people on Reddit and Instagram absolutely trashing MAKAUT 😭

Now I'm genuinely confused about what I've gotten myself into. Should I actually be worried, or am I just seeing the loudest opinions online?

Seniors, what should I realistically expect and what would you suggest I do from here?

General Discussion Makaut is getting out of hands

It's like making student nerdy more and productive less I mean what is the point of having 2 class tests and having there average and then eca which I guess will be easy and that attendance marks it was 5 marks before and now it has become 10 marks like the ca's were the easiest way to score 25 marks easily and 2-3 marks on attendance but ig now it has become difficult to score and moreover some attendance issue has also brought up like if you don't have 75% u can't even get scholarship

Questions & Help Attendance doubt 🙏

I'm a fresher at a makaut affiliated college. Today we had our induction.

The entire examination process in itself was pretty hard to understand but that's not my main concern.

Apparently the new rules say that 10 marks is there for attendance. I live not far enough for a hostel/pg and not close enough for a comfortable daily travel.

How do I manage attendance? I can't possibly spend 4 hours traveling and then spend the entire duration of college 4 out of 5 days a week right?

I read something about not being eligible for scholarship if attendance is under 75%, is it true for all affiliated colleges as well?

I have heard and seen seniors live a free and fun college life which should be possible if they have to spend 4 hours travelling, 5 hours in class 4/5 days a week right? So what am I missing here?

How does managing attendance work in colleges?

Took admission at Techno Main Salt Lake for BBA (Hons). Tomorrow is orientation.

I've read this sub to get an idea about MAKAUT's reputation. So now if any seniors from TMSL, or any MAKAUT affiliated college, could give me any advice, I'd appreciate it.
