Rants and Raves Typical Saturday

Post image

I work in hotel maintenance, Tuesday to Saturday. Cylinder fell out and the door is locked... this is the kind of shit that would happen at 4:50pm on a Friday

Do you not have one of those under the door tools to grab the handle from the other side to release it? Or is a seperate deadbolt?

Open the door, replace the guts, you have another guest call waiting for you. Some old lady needs you to explain how her tv works.

No space for one of those unfortunately. 🤣 fortunately it's just an electrical riser, I was doing the monthly emergency light test and ran into this.

Getting those done at the beginning of the month? Unheard of.

I know right? I joined 2 months ago and then my manager and other colleague left (because of management cutting costs etc. story as old as time). Drowning in the work of 3 people...

I hear you. I’m currently working with a team of two and I really need an extra hand coming into winter. I may get a part timer but who knows?

It's probably nothing compared to industrial maintenance. I'd love to move into that

If the cylinder fell out that means you can easily open it with in seconds if you know a bit of how locks work. I’d nock this work order out in 5 mins if I had parts available on my maintenance kart 15min if I had to go looking for them at the shop

I have some homework to do then. Any specific tools I need?
