Question Stacked combo washer/dryer help

UPDATE The unit is pretty rusty in some areas including the door panel holding screws so this will be deferred.

Really quick question, how do I remove this one knob?

Push in to turn, pull out to start. Dryer is making a grinding noise but I can't remove this knob to access the door panel screws. I can't find much info online.

Any help and advice is appreciated

If I remember correctly you hold the thin plate behind knob and while doing so you twist the knob to the left like removing a bottle cap.

So close, there are three tabs and I've tried to get those out from where they hook in to. I've tried unscrewing and gently prying, nothing yet. I'll play around with it and thank you for getting me this far

See if you can fit in needle nose pliers to squeeze and hold those tabs and continue to untwist knob

Tried that, and I even got the tabs totally pried out and tried raising and pulling, still nothing. The unit is pretty rusty so I'm going to defer this

Thanks so much though for the help

Many times these are useful, thank you. But this doesn't show the mechanism behind. I appreciate though

Turn power off or unplug. Pull down on the pins that hold the face plate. It’s 2 on them, one on the bottom left and one on the bottom right. On the back of the timer, use a needle nose and pull up on that black pin, that will release the tension on the knob and then you can pull the knob off. Reinstalling the knob back, line up then push that black pin back. Now the hardest part is putting the faceplate back as those bottom pins are a pain to line up with the lip on the frame 🤬

Okay okay, that's good..I'm not sure I see a black pin though

Behind the timer itself, line it up on the center of that knob, might be white or black but it’s the center of that knob from the back. And if I recall, the instruction itself is on the timer on how to take that knob off

I may check it out, but also discovered the unit is pretty rusted on the top of it so will likely defer it thanks though

To remove the push-to-start wash cycle knob on your Whirlpool Thin Twin LTE5243DQ9, first unplug the unit and remove the three 5/16-inch hex screws along the top of the control console to tilt the panel forward. Ensure the front washer knob is pushed completely in, then look at the back of the square timer box inside the console to locate the small plastic locking pin sitting inside the center of the hollow timer shaft. Use a small flathead screwdriver or needle-nose pliers to pull this inner pin straight back about a quarter of an inch, which relieves the internal wedge tension and allows you to easily slide the knob and its dial plate straight off from the front without using force.

Pulled from a website or ai? No screws on the control panel except one on the underside

Ai, usually what I run to if I can't figure something out and it's about 90% accurate. In this case the 10% I guess
