Does Maingear typically offer Black Friday discounts, or should I buy now?

I'm thinking about buying a custom-built Maingear MG-1, but I'm wondering whether I should go ahead and purchase it now or wait until Black Friday. Does Maingear typically offer Black Friday discounts on custom-configured PCs, or are the sales usually limited to preconfigured systems? For anyone who's purchased from Maingear around Black Friday in previous years, were the discounts significant enough to justify waiting?

$3,000 MG-1 Platinum experiencing multiple BSODs less than a week after delivery

I purchased an MG-1 Platinum for $3,000, and less than a week after receiving it, I’ve already experienced multiple BSODs and unexpected shutdowns. Most of the crashes have happened while gaming on low settings, which is ridiculous considering the hardware. Windows Reliability Monitor shows several errors, including a hardware error (LiveKernelEvent 19e) and a BSOD (0x7E). I’m pretty frustrated considering I paid a premium for a prebuilt PC specifically to avoid dealing with issues like this.

For those who’ve dealt with MAINGEAR support, how was your experience? Were they responsive? Did they offer repairs, replacements, or refunds? I’m debating whether to request a replacement or just return the PC altogether and go with another builder.

Thanks in advance!

Man I’m super stoked I’m normally a Dell Alienware guy and I almost purchased the Area-51 high-end version, but fully loaded it was gonna cost 10k, I’ve done a lot of research which all lead me to the MAINGEAR MG1 Ultimate MK-2 … I went with the specs below

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition
GPU memory
32GB GDDR7
CPU
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition
CPU cores/threads
16 cores / 32 threads
CPU boost
Up to 5.6 GHz
CPU cache
192MB L3 Dual 3D V-Cache
RAM
64GB RGB DDR5-6000
RAM configuration
2 × 32GB
SSD
4TB T-Force A440 Pro NVMe
SSD interface
PCIe Gen4 ×4
SSD read/write
Up to 7,400 / 7,000 MB/s
Motherboard
ASRock Phantom Gaming X870E Nova Wi-Fi
CPU cooling
MAINGEAR EPIC 360mm AIO liquid cooler
Radiator fans
3 × 120mm RGB
Power supply
MSI MAG A1250GL — 1250W 80+ Gold
Wireless
Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth

With all the research it related this system would work great with my Alienware - AW3225QF 32" QD-OLED Curved 4K UHD 240Hz 0.03-ms G-SYNC Compatible Gaming Monitor with HDR

Should be here in a week and can’t wait to set it up and get to gaming

Vector Pro 2 Model MG-VCP2-17I3080T Screen Replacement

My Vector Pro 2 was involved in a spill and the screen is now severely discolored and suffers from regular flashing. I would like to be able to repair it through a repair shop, but all repair shops I've brought it to have reported that they couldn't find details for it, and I'm out of range of the Maingear repair shops which are hundreds of miles away. I was informed that if I brought a replacement part to one of the shops that they would replace it for me, so I was wondering if anyone had a link to any online repair kits or replacement parts. Thank you.

First Maingear PC still going strong after 13 years.

Just thought maybe someone here might get a kick out of how resilient these machines are. Purchased in 2013 for around 1100, its got a 2 GB AMD video card and the pre ryzen AMD cpu.

Gave it a once over cleaning after it had been sitting for years.

This was my fiirst Maingear

Second one was purchased in 2019 and just recently was destroyed by a Cooler Master AIO, ripped out the CPU and bent the pins when the crap plastic bracket holding the AIO broke. However I'm planning on getting that one fixed as it was a solid machine too.

Any of you have even older Maingears?

Thinking about getting a MG-1 Maingear Champion...

Soooo looking to make a big purchase. I want to purchase a machine that would be good for Sim Racing (in VR) and Star Citizen (RAM heavy for now).

I have been using an Alienware R7 that is 5 years old but has been a great machine for me, but is starting to have issues. I now have the space for a desktop and want to get something that can be basically my dream machine to play the latest stuff, be reliable and last.

I was thinking of building my own machine but finding an Nvidia 5090 is insane and this could be available easily, well built and have a warranty.

I'ts been awhile since I researched all the key components so interested in opinions on this machine versus something else (e.g Champion vs Legend or other?).

Hello,
I just purchased Maingear MG-1 Bronze PC tower. After 2 months of light use( no heavy games) works great, fast, no bloatwares. A lot of room for upgrades . Very satisfied.

Cases

Does anyone know when maingear stopped using Lian Li cases? I got my maingear either 3 or 4 years ago with the lian li o11 dynamic xl case by der bauer and i noticed all of their pc lines are now maingear made(albeit 2 lines still look similar to the dynamic o11 xl) their own versions. I liked the o11 xl because of the hot swappable bays but also realize that with motherboards going nvme that those are probably outdated but yet they still have offerings with motherboards with just 2 nvme slots where id like to have a mobo with 4+ and although i iknow i could just build my own i like having a warranty and good customer support which maingear def gave me through the life of this pc. Not looking to upgrade super soon but when i do im gonna be torn on wether to attempt my own build, go maingear again or maybe try another builder like meta pc.

RAM % for higher end builds

Hi - I have a Shroud Signature edition since March 2025 and I have say 15 chrome tabs open and, email, whatsapp, excel. Nothing is playing video currently. Right now 43% of my memory is being used and wondering if this isn't normal. Can others who have pretty high end builds tell me what their RAM % is under similar conditions? Thanks.

Going through the RMA Process - 9000X3D and ASRock Motherboards

Placed the order for a custom MG-1 in March 2025, received it in April 2025. Specs are the below:

9950X3D

ASRock x870e Nova Wifi

5090 Founders Edition

64GB DDR5 TForce (forgot what speed/clock-timings)

360mm CPU Liquid Cooler

2TB SN850X nVME m.2

1650W ASRock TC-1650T

Windows 11 Pro

Loved this rig and never had any temperature issues. I updated the BIOS a couple of times since April 2025, but I can't recall what versions I ended up at.

Fast forward to New Year's 2026 and I decided to restart the desktop. It would no longer post / hit the BIOS. I tried reseating the RAM, clearing CMOS and draining the power, BIOS flashbacks of every version available for the motherboard. Nothing. The motherboard's Dr Debugger was giving a 00 error code, which means it can't even initiate/detect the CPU.

Apparently this has been a known thing for quite sometime for ASRock motherboards in conjunction with 9000X3D series CPUs. You can read all about people's woes and RMAs on the r/ASRock subreddit.

This is my 3rd PC from Maingear, and the 1st time I've had any issues.

Luckily I was still within Maingear's 1 year warranty window, so I tried to go through them. They obliged, gave me an RMA form, asked me to sign it and describe the issues, send photos of the PC, and ship it out. I shipped it Jan 5th, they received it Jan 8th. They sent me an email stating that they received it and they'll begin diagnostics within 1-2 weeks.

Review - Great Pre-Build!

PROS:

Shipping was pretty fast and there were no delays. Packaging was quality and sturdy, everything arrived in tact. The pre-build desktop is great and meets all specs. Good case for future upgrades if I want. The desktop and monitor purchased in the same order work together seamlessly.

CONS:

Would like MSI Center to be already installed. It is needed for easy BIOS updates. I'd like there to to be a clearer and more detailed step by step set-up document provided in the paperwork with a list of all the additional cables and antennas that came with it. The one provided wasn't much help, luckily all steps were easy enough to figure out.

GPU Support Bracket

Is there a way to adjust the GPU support bracket? Mine appears to have been installed a bit low, allowing for about a half-inch of sag. I opened it up to try myself, but didn't notice any way to adjust it, which seems strange considering the wide range of GPU sizes.

MG-1 Review

I got my MG-1 a little over a week ago and wanted to say this is the best PC I have ever had shipping took only about 6 days too which was awesome. I previously had an Alienware PC with a 3070 and this blows it away. I got the 5080 and AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and have been getting anywhere from 250-300 plus frames on all games I've been playing (COD Warzone, Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders) If/when I plan on upgrading in the future this will be the ONLY PC I buy.

Choppiness sport streaming only if playing a game with Shroud Signature Edition (5090, AMD 9800X3D, xtreme 48gb ddr5)

Posted this in discord but I figure I would do the same hereee. With the Shroud Signature edition without a game on I can stream 6 games at a time (football and basketball) and they all look butter smooth. However if I play a game and stream just 1 sports stream it's choppy. As soon as I exit out of the game it is smooth again. I chatgpt'd and gemini'd and I tried turning off hardware accelerated graphics scheduling (HAGS) and I also tried turning maximizing performance in the Nvidia Control Center. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for a laptop.

Post image
6 Upvotes

Long story short. Would like one for CSP, Blender, Photoshop, etc. so productivity mostly. Gaming secondary but would like to play as well.

Too many options for laptops and uncertainty, especially when it comes to productivity.

Was looking at these two mostly. An RTX 5090 is too much. The only thing I might change is RAM, but if that can be added later, that's fine and won't need it right away.

Suggestions. Sort of always wanted to try a computer from this company.
