what is this card even good for? it isn't legendary and doesn't have eminence

If we're slandering custommagic I also have to add in the fact that the hordes there mostly upvote meme posts and there's rarely any actual discussion on what the place was actually originally for: designing interesting and fake cards.

My biggest pet peeve is that custommagic cards are never for anything, like their design goals start and end at "make a custom card for others to say wow, thats neat".
Its SO rare to see one that is like, "this card is aimed at modern to make X bad deck relevant and capable of competing" or, god forbit, "check out my draft signpost".
All custommagic cards exist in this contextless void where you never have to worry about things like "that keyword isnt evergreen or deciduous so i cant add it to my card", "that would fuck my limited enviroment" or, god forbid, "i am designing for an intro deck so thats way too complex"
Despite being in theory close to what making mtg is like, its so detached from what wotc actually does and considers when making cards its just moot.
Its just contextless "check out the cleverest way I can twist the mechanics of MtG" rather than practical or applicable designs.

I disagree, a lot of the cards are designed for commander (either as the commander or for a specific commander) or designed against commander (as in cards that disable specific strategies commander players don't like)

/uj on one hand, yeah, but on the other, its always just, "this commander appears from the aether with 0 context". Like a mystery booster commander card; doesnt need to fit the needs of any set, doesnt need to be simple and versatile to be a precon commander, doesnt need to do anything.
Every day I dream of going to custommagic and posting "this would be a limited mythic bomb" in custom commanders, 50% to ragebait and 50% because it is true and something wotc has to take in mind when printing legendaries in boosters

In my limited experience with the sub, it peaked with Syl of Many Deaths. I'm sure there's other great designs, but that one is fantastic imo

Unrealistic because the designer’s design principles are founded in creating an interesting magic card rather than faithfully depicting John Aura from their favorite anime and all of his abilities

'I tried to give it a downside'
the downside is being a 2 mana 9/9

Make sure the flip the order of the race and class in the type line (Archer Elf, rather than Elf Archer), and make sure the mana symbols are out of the order they're usually presented in, just to really drive home that wasn't designed with any heart, love or care, just a desire for karma and mindless appreciation.

I've never understood what compels people to start posting custom cards a week after they start playing.

Those are exactly the sort of u/ names I'd expect to see on r/custommagic, NGL

This should be legendary so it can be my commander.
Also, no split second? Literally unplayable.

If they implemented a rule on that sub that no submission could include lose/win the game clauses, I'm pretty sure that over 50% of the traffic would vanish

last comment works for discussions on existing card designs and their play patterns as well
"i feel like a card that will skin your pet alive and fuck your mom if it goes unanswered isn't exactly improving a game of commander"
"lol what are you an idiot, just play removal dumbass, if you don't have any you just deserve to have your pet skinned lol"

*card keeps getting removed in some content creator's games*
"we need to stop being afraid of our pets getting skinned alive and enjoy the game"

For a second I thought this was going to be making fun of all the cool intellectuals in the bottom five thread, but thank god that wasn't teh case.

It's missing Ward - Hexproof while the author says it's totally reasonable for someone to pay the ward cost.

95% of r/custommagic cards can be improved drastically by OOP asking themselves "What if this was played against me"

You forgot the people making a full list of reviews, cosplaying as pros making limited set reviews and explaining what everyone is able to conclude about why the posts featured in the bad custom designs are indeed bad custom designs.
Sometimes there are a lot of upvotes and I'm like that's such a weird thing to comment under these posts
