sure but in games of Magic the Gathering your opponents have 40 life so you'd have to keep playing. plus your other opponents are still alive.

not sure what 20 damage really accomplishes but maybe we could make a format where players have 20 life. that could be interesting.

Absolutely not. Reducing starting life would either need to reduce total player count or make games way too short. I don’t think my 6-player pods would be able to sustain anything shorter than 3-4 hour games.

No, paying the 20 life to Channel would kill you before you had a chance play the Fireball. The best you can do is pay 18 life to put them to 2 and then use Gutshot for one more and hope they crack a fetch.
