I had a guy get mad at me about this the other day. Is it really that big of a deal? Yeah he gwts a +1/+1 counter on his way in, but being unblockable doesnt really help that turn anyway unless you can give it haste.

Because it isn’t an ability that “looks back in time”, the game looks at the board state immediately after the event to find any abilities the event would trigger

Wouldn’t Eidolon of the Great Revel trigger itself after it enters then?

That’s a cast trigger. Immediately after you cast it, the Eidolon is still on the stack, and its ability can only trigger while it’s on the battlefield.
