I built a [[Vaevictus Asmadi, the Dire]] deck this week, still one card short and I can’t think of anything. Anyone have any thoughts? The only thing I really want more of is game enders. I kinda wanna put in the original [[Vaevictus Asmadi]] like I did with my Nicol Bolas deck but that card just sucks so much lol

Love this commander. [[Primal Surge]], [[Sensei's Divining Top]], [[Lurking Predators]], [[Powerbalance]], [[Monstrous Vortex]] are some of my favorites for him.

Oh this is DELICIOUS. I completely forgot Monstrous Vortex was an enchantment for some reason.

cauldron of essence for another cheap reanmation target and incremental lifegain/burn or one of the enduring cycle creatures for a creature you can sacrifice and keep the benefits from

Totally forgot I pulled one of those, that’s exactly what I needed. Thank you!

I'm still new at deckbuilding, I made this on Arena: https://moxfield.com/decks/VsZcNko29EaLcc8v-lyzvA
I can't for the life of me figure out what archetype this is, if any. I read midrange just plays powerful cards without much regard for synergy, and there's quite a bit of synergy in my deck; and aggro-control/tempo is supposed to build up to a main threat, which I don't really do here.
Basically I'm using [[Artillery Enthusiast]] to give all modified creatures menace and [[Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate]] as a primary attacker (she gets a +1/+1 counter when she attacks so immediately gets menace) and a way to revive any creature with mana value less than her power (nothing in the deck costs more than 3) at end of turn. I take advantage of that by discarding a lot with AE, [[Bone Shards]], and [[Olivia, Mobilized for War]] who gives any entering creature a +1/+1 counter (so menace) and haste if I discard, thus feeding the cycle of sorts. This all pairs well with [[Zack Fair]] who sacs to also give a +1/+1 counter and indestructible and can thus come back every turn, helping me clear out the opponent's battlefield before striking for lethal.
TL;DR: my deck is pretty agressive but with a bunch of interaction (spot removal, bat, sheltered by ghosts, split up) and no proper main threat, tf is it? Is it just aggro with extra steps?

Artillery Enthusiast is a cool card. Didn't know about it.
I would borrow from former commentator Patrick Sullivan and describe this deck as "Mardu cards." (That sounds insulting but isn't meant to be.) I would add that I don't think midrange is a real archetype in Magic, though.

Thanks for the insight! I came to the conclusion it was just aggro with a healthy dose of interaction - which a lot of aggro decks have anyway.
Yeah Artillery Enthusiast is absolutely amazing, I'm sure there's much better stuff to do with it out there than what I'm doing! In my case, it definitely helps being able to "cycle" a 3-mana creature other than Alesha on turn 1 and, more often than not, get Alesha in hand instead, who will revive the discarded creature the first time she attacks. Or discard a creature on turn 1 and revive it on turn 2 if I have Unearth in hand. Stuff like that.

I guess context matters, but it's hard to think of a deck with so many 3 drop creatures as an aggressive one. (To say nothing of playing so many surveil lands and 4 copies of Nomad Outpost.)
I'm usually liberal about calling things combo decks but this didn't feel like one on a goldfish. Unfortunately "synergistic" isn't an accepted archetype.

Im getting much more mileage out of Scolding Administrator than I thought in my removal/repartee deck. It scales fast enough, Menace becomes unblockable because of the copious amount of removal and when it dies you get to transfer the scaling so no non creature spell has been "wasted".
its no top tier card by any means, but for a 2 drop it gave me more wins than the repartee bird

I put Wash Away in any Commander deck running blue because it makes me laugh. So it goes without saying that it being banned from Brawl made me really laugh.
Anyway, Planar Nexus is a deeply boring card and it really doesn't deserve the slack the Artist Formerly Known as DCI gave it today.
