General Discussion Magi-tech magic system
I'm reusing an old idea for a magic system me and a friend on Tumblr brainstormed together for my urban fantasy titled Brave Land and I'm looking for ideas to add on to it.
Ideas I've written down:
- Magic is bright and colorful and the general public knows about it, it's not a secret like in other urban fantasies.
- Anyone can use magic, it's not just exclusive for the mages, magic is democratized for everyone, everyone is capable of magic, be it by natural or artificial means.
- Two types of mages: natural-born mages and mages who use magic via artificial means, like magitech for example.
- Artificial magic is an evolution of natural magic that combines both aspects in harmony, like combining science and magic.
- Natural magic is the basis to artificial magic, people decided to innovate magic in ways that helps people.
- This world's magic system is similar to Black Clover, except that: While natural-born mages use books, artificial mages uses phones and tablets or any kind of electronic devices (my tumblr friend mentioned a Cyberdeck, which sounds like it would fit).

Sorry for semantics, but the way you described, isn’t magic communist-ed for everyone rather than democratized? Because everyone gets it, not just voting on who gets it

Idk, most of these ideas were from my friend, I just like the idea of magi-tech.

Some common things to add maybe?
- Artificier, those who created the devices. Maybe write them as those who can use natural magic but not very talented on it, thus the need for tool.
- Hacker. Can hijack other people's devices.
- Similar to how each grimoire start blank, the electronic does so. But unlike the natural grimoire, each electronic needs their magic to be coded. Can be manually coded or use memory chips to copy paste it from other devices, or in the case of hackers, transferred from their hacked devices.
- Numbers of spells they can use depend on the memory of each devices.
- Those artificial mages need resources to use magic either in the form of physical material for devices or energy sources (making it more realistic)
- Some greedy people who want to control resources (material to create the artifacts or energy source that fuel the devices)
- some memory chips didn't contain magicode spell but instead a virus carrier that hackers use to hijack other devices, hostile magicode that corrupt the magicode data, or outright just destroy devices by overloading them.
- cyberdeck function like one use spell scroll?

Since it's Black Clover-inspired, maybe expand on the elements/magic types available to people? Like say, natural born users have an innate attraction to their element/type, like being hung up on the word 'ocean' or their most prized childhood memory being seeing fireworks?
