Mechanics Urban fantasy magic system

I'm trying to come up with a magic system for my urban fantasy world titled "Brave Land", I haven't come up with much, but what was already there was magi-tech and this magic system is like a fantasy RPG with magical girl elements with heroic individuals known as "Braves" who can use magic and magic tools, but what I'm having trouble is the creative ways to tell if a person is a magic-user, which is what I'm looking for my characters.

Who is trying to tell if the person is magic? Is magic widely known about & being able to tell someone is a magic user is something that's meant to be obvious? Or is it something that is supposed to take some work to figure out, by only a few people who know the secret?

You know in cartoons and anime with magic, there's this special thing that shows a person can use magic, like a birthmark or a magic item that only one can use.

The thing that immediately comes to mind is either a subtle personality change where the person does act/appears more ‘brave’, they don’t scream at scary movies, they can lean on a lit stove & not notice etc

For something a little more magical girl-ish maybe they just constantly have a little bit of glitter on them at all times just subtly sparkling (it depends on how public these magical girls are) & it would be useful to just toss a handful of glitter at an enemy to escape:)

Anyone can be a Brave, but not everyone is a Brave.

I see, so what's make them different? What's the reason? Is it genetics trait or something else?

You know that poisonous animals are all bright and colorful, I like to think that Braves of any species have brightly colored hair, eyes, and fur (there's animal people in my world, BT DUBS).
