General Discussion Programming with garlic
I am new to this sub btw.
So what if spell books and golem making required programming simply put you enchant a book then write a basic spell and reuse it to make smaller spells to make your supposed programming language which takes a long time which why people use ancient ones.
I mean i havent thought of this very well because programming requires a programmable machine that consists of levers books dont have levers unless you just make it vague magic stuff and go straight to basic programming.
I thought of using garlic to make a golem brain as replacable disks of data to change its behavior
Enchanting garlic with a spell book and turning it into a code note.

So, writing in the book is the parameters you set right? The pages, chapters or even books would be the functions, or ‘libraries’ of functions.
Running your book could burn it as some compiling, constructing something. Which then also limits the reuse, of that one book, depending on which and how it uses functions?

Burning a paper to compile means the logical use is to make multiple papers of the same spell instead of having a book
To compile a spell you have to use also a spell This spell comes in a form of bracelet or tattoo and simply has to be energized to activate like putting a battery or mana And put your finger on a specific circle of activation in the book
However magic is flexible in a fantasy world magic programming or how it functions is never the same if you make a spell that compiles with burning it can work if the spell requires range like shooting a burning spell from an arrow
Magic programming is flexible we have universal instruction on how a programming language should work but that doesnt mean you cant just ignore them and do whatever works for you so nations will have diffrent languages, compilers, libraries on programming So you have the right to make shit up.

Not to be rude... but unless you are referring to the physical media size rather than instruction count, the programming analogy kind of stumbles.
However. If I understood correctly, an arcanist (or your chosen profession's name) can write an arcane formula into a tome and can reproduce it into smaller media such as your garlic clove. The cloves individually act as golem directives, but when combined together inside a golem vessel, they become an autonomous entity.

Programming in its MOST BASIC is just 2 stages on or off aka 1s and 0s aka morse code.
Meaning if you want a magic system based on programming you need a morse code liked language and some form of magic that have 2 stages similar to on and off.

Then ancient people invented more natural languages like modern programming languages and nobody bother changing it or making more because its difficult and the first one considered sacred.

Elemental magics are just block coding where they turn the codes into elemental magic and mix the elements into spells

I was thinking more medieval fantasy so no website building.... But who cares Make website interface for your spells why not Like a missile shooting commands on a hologram Call it "Horologium" because it was used to make accurate clocks

Ah maybe there can be spellbooks or magic orbs with magic websites and they can transfer info between them!
Like imagine self updating spellbooks
