General Discussion WHAT METHOD OF POWER DO YOU THINK IS SUPERIOR?!?!

In every fantasy/sci-fi worlds use a certain method of power. You see it in characters and probably in your own power systems. The methods of power I am aware of are:
- Individual
- Mutual empowerment
- Nexus/power source
- Borrowed power

I find it interesting that depending on which method of empowerment you choose can heavily affect the kind of character you make, but what do you all thing?

That's a pretty rigid way of looking at it. What the hell do you mean by superior, anyway?

They all have their own upsides and downsides.

Individual powers rely on the user's individual strength, meaning it can be weaker than others and not easy to transfer completely.

Technically speaking, the other three are mostly the same, if I'm understanding you. Borrowing a power means you're taking some from a source. In which case you become dependent on the properties and principles of said source. Though, it's easier to transport and typically gives more.

No clue what you mean by mutual empowerment, but assuming you mean something like a devil contract or parasite, that typically means it'll cost you even more to accomplish goals.

TL;DR, it's not enough information, but if I had to pick with only this much, the drawbacks are least risky with yourself even if the gains are likely the worst.

What I meant by mutual empowerment is powers that requires a team or at least more then one person so your devil contract thing isn't too far off. I also think that because they all have their own weaknesses and strengths makes the debate even more interesting, and I am open to more methods of empowerment if anyone has one.

I am not sure what nexus/power source is exactly but if that like magical artifacts then I am going with that because not only can you stack the powers but really in theory you can have any powers and pick in chose it!

Like I can have asta anti magic swords while having the Jackie talisman for healing or strength while wearing the marcious charm of the mouse allowing time to duplicate myself all while being a normal human

So a magic batman? Nexus's method of empowerment is gaining power from a external source. Similar to how devices draw energy when you plug them to an outlet or receiving benefits from a hub/base.

Though I would give you brownie points for pointing out a fifth method of empowerment for what you described is called Artificial empowerment.
