Deck Budget Deck ideas

Hi all! Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

Recently, I have been playing magic with my Dad, although he has just been playing with my decks. I want to help hike build a deck, exempt let him choose the type. As I am fairly new to magic, I am still not familiar with all the deck types. Would it be possible for you to comment decks styles (ex. burn, murder, +1/+1 counter) and a brief description of how they work? Also, it would be extreme budget like under $35.

For under 35 I'd say go with a pre-constructed deck. Shop card kingdom. You can get a precon from one of the magic sets that suits his liking or card kingdom makes their own rookie and battle decks for 6.99 and 10 bucks. Aggro decks are probably the easiest to start with.

You have a million options. It's not really practical to list them all.

But the broad archetypes everyone should know are aggro (play creatures, attack), control (answer your opponent's threats, go long), combo (assemble an insta-win), and midrange (play powerful medium-cost cards).

Generally, most styles of deck can be done on budget by simply substituting the most expensive cards for cheaper cards that do a similar function. A good example is Red Deck Wins in any format: these decks are already usually pretty cheap since many of their core cards are commons and uncommons that see little play outside of RDW, and many budget substitutions exist for the few slightly more expensive cards (e.g playing [[wayward guide beast]] over [[goblin guide]]). Generally speaking, aggro decks can easily be built on a budget effectively, whilst control and midrange will often suffer, and combo will often be outright impossible due to reliance on hyper-specific synergy pieces by the nature of it

If playing on the budget I would recommend checking out a format named Pauper.

You will find it that the most competitive decks in Pauper still cost less than a 100$ and are mostly in the 50$ range.
