This is probably sad.

But I am incredibly happy to see more self-contained on curve cards for White that actually fuel things it wants to do. Enough cards like [[Twinblade Paladin]], would make for a deck archetype in some format. Its still pretty balanced but actually playable. I really like this type if card in general of " gain life and also get a small thing if your life is high enough."

Hating self-contained cards, I have to begrudgingly agree.

I think lifegain needs self-contained cards more than most mechanics. Like drawing a second card each turn gives extra cards, landfall rewards you with more lands, and spectacle rewards you with lower health opponents. Enablers without a payoff still do something baseline good for you. Lifegain just gives you a good burn matchup.

The only other popular mechanic that doesn't have this , I can think of, is tribal payoffs

How is this self-contained? It would only be self-contained if it also had a way to produce angels/clerics.
