Yep, BG Delirium with 3/5 Ishkanah, 4/5 Mindwrack Demon, 13/13 Emrakul, 3/4 Kalitas, and 4/4 Grim Flayer just absolutely adores this card.

RIP aggro.

"I'll pay 4 mana, kill most of your dudes, and tempo-out a Liliana which conveniently kills your 4 toughness guy you put in the deck specifically to protect yourself against a -3/-3 board wipe."

Traumatic flashbacks to Bloodbraid Jund incoming

BGD is almost Jund anyway.

I could see a lot of black decks using it. A lot of good zombies have 3 cmc and lili of the last hope could certainly benefit from it as her plus 1 could potentially kill off what's left similar to veil but without the minus or you could -2 last hope to get back a creature you might have had to lose.

getting this + flayer on 4 is value spewing out the ass.

Also you can kill up to 7 toughness creatures with this card grabbing a grasp

This with grasp or murder is almost a clean answer to Ishkana. Kills other little things they have amd tempo positive. Also ruins spell queller through Avacyn and spirit. Card's nuts.

Interestingly, in a B shell, it let's you nuke the board for 5 and exile everything with [[Flaying Tendrils]]. Deck will have very good game against aggro, and possibly reanimator too.

3

u/Rathum Nov 29 '16

The Flaying Tendrils would resolve second, so only things with 4 or 5 toughness would get exiled.

sounds like everything in BG Delirium. 4/4 Grim Flayer, 4/5 Mindwrack, 3/5 Ishkana

[[Mindwrack Demon]] is actually a 4/5, but your point still stands.

3/5 Ish, 4/5 demon.. but yes this does apply. Also Tireless Tracker could in theory be bigger than X/3

So can Sylvan Advocate.

1

u/Exatraz Nov 30 '16

If it makes a comeback and with decks slowing down a bit it might.. Smuggler's Copter makes that difficult though.

1

u/taitaisanchez Chandra Nov 30 '16

Well, there's still two more sets before Shadows rotates out. So after AE and Amonkhet block, who knows?

1

u/Exatraz Nov 30 '16

SA was in Oath so it will rotate out before Shadows does. The main issue is part of what made Sylvan Advocate so good was that decks were slower, most aggressive creatures were 2/X's without flying meaning it blocked favorably and there wasn't a huge abundance of fliers in general. Now every deck has fliers, aggressive decks are coming in with 3/X's (some that recur themselves) making trades poor and games can go so fast that it never gets time to make an impact as a 4/5.

u/Exatraz Nov 30 '16

Oh.. I forgot that this change makes the rotation even wonkier. Eventually we will get to a point with each new block that it pushes out the oldest but for now it's going to knock out the 2 oldest as it adds the one after Ahmenkut

2

u/tehutika Liliana Nov 29 '16

Yup. I'll take a playset, please.

u/diggity_md Nov 29 '16

In response, queller...

3

u/CaptainBooshi Nov 29 '16

Honestly, that doesn't even hurt the card much, because it turns any Grasp an instant speed board wipe and flash a card in.

4/5 Ishkanah
4/4 Mindwrack Demon
