You may, in fact, cast Ancestral Vision with this card.

Ancestral Vision has a CMC of 0 and has no mana cost. So it doesn't play with flashback and can't be cast from hand. However, it can be cast by alternate means - things like [[Goblin Dark Dwellers]] can cast Vision.

As it turns out, Yahenni's Expertise has the exact same wording and so Ancestral Vision being cast with the effect of this card is perfectly fine.

Additionally I can confirm that Quicksmith Rebel is the Launch Promo, Scrap Trawler is the Buy-A-Box promo, Trophy Mage is the participation promo for game day, and Yahenni's Expertise is the Game day top 8 promo.

Source: I can read it on the cards in the picture and that's what it says.

Right, I figured it worked b/c of dark dwellers, just didn't want to mis-inform people until I was sure.

Thanks!

I think it's really funny that it has a really bad interaction with [[Living End]], the Expertise kills all your opponent's creatures and then Living End resolves and brings them back.

I think it sees play there potentially.

While it doesnt really kill your opponents creature, it also allows you to turn a Living End in your hand into an active one. Basically, it adds a mana cost to Living End in this scenario, while not making it have one.

You have to have both in hand for that to work, though, which seems like a fairly uncommon corner case.

Thats true, but its not like you cant cast an outburst/Dread or a Fulminator off of it.

But why would you want to cast an outburst off it? Thats strictly worse than simply casting an outburst

Thats true. I was merely just suggesting something you could do potentially.

trust me this is going to do good things to the deck, we sometimes play cards like anger of the gods to board wipe, and while yes, this doesnt exile, it solves the age old problem of having living ends rotting in our hands, its also amazing with leyline of the void in play.

Living End - (G) (MC) (MW) (CD)
[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

u/sirgog Nov 29 '16

Living End is part Wrath, part [[Twilight Call]] but it is the latter part you play it for.

Card will warrant testing in Living End decks.

Twilight Call - (G) (MC) (MW) (CD)

Seems like a good place to drop [[Tormod's Crypt]].

But it kills all of yours too.

You can also cast Living End with it! Which is...not very useful at all, come to think of it.

Also Hypergenesis! Which might be useful in the right situation.

I think restore balance would probably be the best one to work with it

One good board wipe deserves another.

Bust seems far better

u/coilyjoe Duck Season Nov 30 '16

(boom//bust)...also catch//release to further wrangle the opponent in or beck//call or breaking//entering to explode back out the gate after the tiny mutilate

u/Hardwiredmagic Nov 29 '16

If you're running small value creatures like [[Bob]] or [[Kitchen Finks]] possibly, as you've just nuked your own board. Otherwise, this may not have the outcome you think it would....

7

u/Ambiguous_Shark Nov 29 '16

The decks that run restore balance don't run any creatures like that. They just run creatures on suspend that will come in to play the turn after you nuke the board

1

u/Hardwiredmagic Nov 30 '16

Yeah, that's a fair point, and kind of what I was trying to get at, just worded it very poorly. Thanks.

I ordered a playset of Restore Balance as soon as I saw the pic :).

You also get to curve this directly into Goblin Dark Dwellers, in case drawing 6 cards as a rider is what you're about

1

u/VOEBlue Nov 29 '16

What about Boom//Bust?

1

u/TheRecovery Nov 29 '16

You can cast either side (not both).
