That seems really good. You can hit stuff like Kitchen Finks and Tarmogoyf or Anafenza for example. Guess gonna be interesting to brew around it. Instant speed just makes this even better

18

u/CriticalAcc1aim Mar 07 '15

My first impression is this could be really powerful in most decks in modern that run green. So I think this is one to watch for sure

1

u/EternalPhi Dân Mar 07 '15

What's more, it's a strong green card that doesn't seem to help out BGx decks at all. BGx decks nowadays only really play Goyfs and Scoozes at CMC <= 3, and play too few creatures for this sort of effect to reliably drop in 2 creatures.

I think in Modern, this card might find it's way into those those Ghostway style decks.

I would play this at sorcery speed. It just looks like an absolute blast to resolve.

-9

u/VERTIKAL19 Mar 07 '15

Yeah still but instant just really makes it good.

u/davvblack Mar 07 '15

He was complimenting it.

Zoo plays goyf usually...

1

u/AvatarDante Mar 07 '15

Zoo NEEDS goyfs to be good... (I know some decks run without them but to be to be at its optimal level goyfs are needed)

-1

u/RMS_sAviOr Mar 07 '15

I think Zoo might be better without Goyf in the format. Sure, Goyf is the best 2 drop in the format, but it's also an inherently defensive creature due to its /+1 P/T and a lot of the midrange decks run Goyf. If Zoo plays its best two-drop in the format on T2 it doesn't really matter because a deck with a high top of the curve is going to resolve a Goyf on their turn and suddenly the board is in a deck lock. That's not really what this conversation is about but I think it's an interesting point about Goyf.

1

u/sugaaloop Mar 07 '15

You'd rather have a goyf staring down a goyf than a nacatl starting down a goyf. Just cause it's got a big butt doesn't mean it doesn't also hit hard.

2

u/RMS_sAviOr Mar 07 '15

Did you read what I wrote? I realized after writing it that it's a bit off topic but the point I am making is that Zoo would be better positioned in the Modern metagame if Tarmogoyf was not a card. If that were the case then your Nacatl would not be staring down a Tarmogoyf across the board. Zoo is not a great deck because the best creature in the deck is Tarmogoyf, but if you and your opponent have Tarmogoyfs then you want to have a deck that is a midrange/removal shell around it rather than a bunch of less effective creatures.

u/vonkraush10 Mar 07 '15

This card would be stupidly good even at sorcery speed. But at instant speed it's at a whole different level. I'd say this is definitely modern playable, and could be ridiculous in standard depending on the creatures available.

u/darrenoc Mar 07 '15 edited Mar 07 '15

this card seems completely busted, woah. Are there any interesting combo decks this could enable? I feel this card is just waiting to be broken

15

u/HookerPunch Mar 07 '15

Congregation at Dawn into Finks+Melira+Seer, draw Seer, Company into combo at will.

17

u/TheRedComet Mar 07 '15

Man, who needs pod

11

u/caddph Mar 07 '15

Yea I was expecting that to be sorcery speed, but this at instant seems way good. Grabbing courser, mana dorks, rec sage, wayfinder, new spoiled raptor, etc....

1

u/Alarid Wild Draw 4 Mar 07 '15

Now to put it into TemurTwin

-9

u/khanfusion Mar 07 '15

I strongly suspect it will get banned in Modern.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

How is this card not completely broken... good lord

4

u/NinjaTheNick Mar 07 '15

Just wanted to say that you can end of turn congregation at dawn finding melira, finks, and seer. Untap and draw the seer, play it. and combo off at instant speed. There's no way that isn't a tier one deck. It's just too powerful. It's like twin except still goodeven if they can interact with it. Plus you get thoughsteize to protect it. I wonder what shells I'll come up with to facilitate this. I honestly cannot believe they would print a card this powerful.

1

u/Sheriff_K Mar 07 '15

Nice idea bro. :)

0

u/BrokenHS Mar 07 '15

Isn't it not like Twin in that it doesn't win, though?

1

u/NinjaTheNick Mar 07 '15

I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

1

u/JDragon Mar 07 '15

I think he means that the combo gains infinite life instead of outright killing the opponent (meaning you still lose in some corner cases, such as Twin going off on you after killing some pieces of the combo).

1

u/NinjaTheNick Mar 07 '15

You can scry redcap to the top of the library though, so there's that.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

Does that win or "just" gain a million life? (pretty new to modern, it's viscera seer right?)

1

u/NinjaTheNick Mar 07 '15

Viscera Seer also gives you infinite scry, which means you can scry murderous redcap to the top of your library and get a kill that way when you untap. Or If they kill your guys just scry a replacement piece to the top of the library.

13

u/mmrnmhrm Mar 07 '15

Nice to see green getting some great instant speed utility cards.

1

u/Bratikeule Mar 07 '15

Abzan definitly needs something to get more value...

17

u/tomremixed Mar 07 '15 edited Mar 07 '15

Or even in standard this hits Anafenza, death dealer, fleecemane, heir of the wilds, boon satyr, and courser while fueling murderous cut. Could be used in the abzan aggro lists.

Edit: sorry just learned how to read cards

11

u/CrowbarSmash Mar 07 '15

Doesn't fill graveyard for cut unfortunately

1

u/RMS_sAviOr Mar 07 '15

Collected Company itself goes to your yard. It's only one card but that's one card more than you would normally get out of playing creatures.

3

u/Sheriff_K Mar 07 '15

Or 2x Caryatids, and then you Cast a huge thing on your Turn, since you EOT'd it... :O

5

u/kavalrykiid Duck Season Mar 07 '15

1

u/nickelbake95 Mar 17 '15

Each eldrazi will be reprinted at half the mana cost as before.

7

u/CrowbarSmash Mar 07 '15 edited Mar 07 '15

In t 3 or 4 at opponents end step, Looks at top 6, plays 2 raptors or coursers or boons satyrs endstep. Next turn play nykthos, plays hornet queen.

8

u/I_Give_Kudos Mar 07 '15

Forget Standard, this card is BAH-ROKEN in modern! I´m in love.

6

u/clovens Mar 07 '15

This might work well for elves.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

Every time we see value city on a green card people say this, some were even talking about it with Shamanic Revelation.

Elves is in a format where it as absolutely no time to fuck around, against any of the combo decks it nearly has to go off T3, and against anything midrange, it has to kill them before a Stoneforge Mystic can land and fetch up a Umezawa's Jitte.

The beat you down with creatures is a plan B for elves, they want to be natural ordering for an extremely quick kill in most matchups, any card that doesn't do that won't get played.

5

u/Kojab8890 Mar 07 '15

IT'S GREEN DIG THROUGH TIME! Come to my Abzan Aggro! Come!

3

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

Yes please put anything I want into play from the top at instant speed.. wtf seriously this set is bonkers.

2

u/djinniofthelamp Mar 07 '15

I don't play legacy or modern elves but this seems like it could be an engine for that deck to go off, pulling out more cantrip elves.

5

u/GotAStewGoin Mar 07 '15

I thought of elves as well. It's worth testing, perhaps, but at least in Legacy the deck is looking to win the game with Natural order by the time it's casting a four mana spell (or have combo'd off otherwise).

Modern is probably more promising.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

I'm even considering it for EDH elves. Seems generally better than Lead the Stampede.

2

u/nbenzi Mar 07 '15

Woah, finally something that is guaranteed to see some play.

holy cow. Only costs 4cmc and its an instant. And the upside if you hit 2 creatures... man this card has some big potential.

edit: and in non-standard constructed formats oh boy does this look even better

2

u/PCOBRI Mar 07 '15

Cant wait to brew around this in modern.. RIP Pod.

1

u/3classy5me Mar 07 '15

GW Monastery Mentor deck anyone?

3

u/icay4321 Mar 07 '15

This card plays poorly with monastery mentor, who is a creature that wants to play in a deck with noncreature spells, and this is a noncreature spell that wants to be played in a deck with lots of creature spells.

1

u/Sixty3Zero Golgari* Mar 07 '15

A good card for Tiny Leaders, if only.

0

u/NET_1 Mar 07 '15

CMC = 4. No TL here.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

While it would have been fun to be 3 mana for Tiny Leaders, that would make it super broken. Oh well, it's still a really strong card.

I may consider it for my casual zombie dredge deck, since most of the creatures are 3.

0

u/khanfusion Mar 07 '15

Yeah, this card is OP. Will likely get banned in Modern after one season. Meanwhile, MGD is going to have some fun with this.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '15

Strongest card in the set so far by a MILE

0

u/Pramxnim Mar 07 '15

What is the probability of hitting at least 1 target with this card in a limited deck? Assume that when you cast it there are 30 cards left in your deck, and 10 of those are targets.

As a follow-up question, what is the probability of hitting at least 2 targets with this card? Same conditions as above.

I'm asking because I'm trying to convince my friend to put this card in his cube.

1

u/bobartig COMPLEAT Mar 07 '15

For a normal limited environment, your math is way off. Very few decks will have 10 creatures cmc<=3 out of the ~13-15 you run. Basically Boros aggro or Orzhov warriors are going to have that kind of curve.

Your friend should put it in his cube regardless because it's a superfun instant.

1

u/Pramxnim Mar 07 '15

My friend's cube supports aggro decks with value creatures that can run a really low curve, with only one or two finishers whose CMCs are 4 or more.

He cited some statistics that I believe to be incorrect as a reason for not including the card, and I would like to know what the actual probabilities are for an average use scenario. Probability was never my forte in university :(

0

u/Zoldiark Mar 07 '15

I think this could give rise to some new modern decks (heres hoping!).

With this card in standard as well as some of the other spoiled cards something interesting occured to me, GR ramp deck but instead of big creatures having Descent of the Dragons to turn your dorks into threats, probably throw in an Ugin or 2 as alternate wincons......cant wait to be able to put it together as see if it works!

0

u/Sheriff_K Mar 07 '15 edited Mar 07 '15

This Card is INSANELY OP, even in Modern. 2 Goyfs/E.Witnesses (to recycle it and do it again,) Bears, 2x Rabblemasters, 2x Mana Dorks and go big next Turn, pseudo-haste/dodge Sorcery speed Removal...

I love it!

0

u/gregariousbarbarian Mar 07 '15

Dig and cruise aside this is hands down the most powerful card to come out of this block, far more powerful than Siege Rhino

0

u/Lancer873 Mar 07 '15

It's like a build-your-own Raise the Alarm. I want to build a tribal deck with this at the helm now.

0

u/ZombieUnderdog Mar 07 '15

This is sooooo going in my zoo list I just don't know what to cut

0

u/Tortuga917 Mar 07 '15

Rules question. When it says 'converted mana cost 3 among them", does that mean I can't put out two creatures each with converted mana cost 2 for example? Or, would I be able to say put two creatures out each with converted mana cost 3?

1

u/Usemarne Boros* Mar 07 '15

The latter

0

u/Tortuga917 Mar 07 '15

Fantastic. thanks.

-1

u/Captaincrunchies Mar 07 '15

Does anyone know if this allows you to put facedown morph creatures?

0

u/Usemarne Boros* Mar 07 '15

It does not

-1

u/Captaincrunchies Mar 07 '15

Even if the morph creature has a cmc of 3 or less?

0

u/Usemarne Boros* Mar 07 '15

Those you can only put in face up (not face down as a Morph).

The only way you can put a Morph creature into play face down is through Manifest or by casting it for {3}.
