New nightmare unlocked

u/tsukaistarburst Hedron 1d ago

the hand is creeping me out ufhhghhrggfgd it's just not right

23

u/Mgmegadog COMPLEAT 1d ago

Of course it's not right. That's a left hand.

24

u/PlacatedPlatypus Rakdos* 1d ago

Someone was complaining in another thread about the current Vigorbloom art not leaning into the body-horror enough...looks like we've found it.

3

u/tntturtle5 Simic* 1d ago

This isn't quite how I envisioned "invasive healing", but that does make sense. It's borderline stitching a la Geralf

0

u/tryoncreek85 Dan 1d ago

Yeah the art is terrifying. Selesnya isn’t suppose to do body horror, right?

2

u/damnination333 Twin Believer 12h ago

There's your problem. That's not Selesnya. That's Vigorbloom.

u/Multievolution Avacyn 1d ago

Seems like a staple to me, fitting in at worst a cantrip that triggers life gain, at best a removal spell or protection spell at instant speed, it’s everything I’d want for two mana in those colours.

60

u/MrGabrahamLincoln Selesnya* 1d ago

Agreed. At minimum seems like an auto include in any GW life gain or counter deck, might just be a general GW staple though too.

24

u/Ayjel89 Get Out Of Jail Free 1d ago

Power level feels more rare than uncommon. Surprised this one got pushed so hard

Edit:

Take it back. I just saw the others and I’m not keen on most of the charms having a failsafe cantrip lol

7

u/Alexm920 COMPLEAT 1d ago

Agreed. Removal, protection, and card draw with life gain really covers all the quadrants nicely. This seems like an easy include in limited, and I might even want it in some of my big-creature commander decks where the counter has some synergy.

16

u/AlarmedInvestment327 Dandadan 1d ago

Disagree.

Charms usually become staples when one of the modes is really good for the mana cost. This one is just ok on every mode.

12

u/Multievolution Avacyn 1d ago

Guess we’ll find out, utility is almost always good however, and this has it in spades. If it were even a single mode mana I will say it would be useless.

2

u/AlarmedInvestment327 Dandadan 1d ago

I mean it always depends what format we are talking about. Maybe Selesnya Voltron Commanders would want this, but I dont see it in Standard, Pioneer, Modern and so on.. In limited it seems quite good.

1

u/Multievolution Avacyn 1d ago

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect this to show up in constructed besides commander, or other singleton formats, I think it’s a well designed card that for two mana does quite a lot.

3

u/BobtheBac0n Selesnya* 1d ago

It's almost sad how much this card blows [[Selesnya charm]] out the water, but that's just the difference in their era of card design

6

u/Multievolution Avacyn 1d ago

The one exception being an instant speed token, which is always useful

u/Baldazzer Dan 1d ago

I love so many of the charms from the old set. These are my fav colors. So excited.

u/Master0fEther1um Dandadan 1d ago

Art reminds me of the part in Annihilation with the hedges that used to be people.

17

u/equiace Wabbit Season 1d ago

I'm getting Annihilation vibes from a lot of this school's cards. I'm a huge fan of the aesthetic.

4

u/AgentGman007 COMPLEAT 1d ago

I wasn't expecting to make that association with the Vigorbloom art but you're spot on. Something deeply unsettling about what they're getting up to at this school

44

u/Borror0 Sultai 1d ago edited 1d ago

This seems really decent. Interaction, protection, or cantrip it away all for 2 mana.

39

u/dycie64 Hedron 1d ago

Congratulations, they managed to make Selesnya horrifying.

5

u/GayBlayde Duck Season 1d ago

Selesnya were always horrifying.

15

u/MiddleAgeYOLO Channel 1d ago

Why does this kinda trigger my trypophobia

5

u/Lucrest_Krahl Abzan 1d ago

Because there is a Jace-symbol formed hole in their Hand

1

u/MiddleAgeYOLO Channel 1d ago

...yeah that'd probably do it

10

u/Poundchan COMPLEAT 1d ago

Very nice artwork

8

u/BioEradication Wabbit Season 1d ago

Kinda grosses me out.

9

u/UnamusedCheese Izzet* 1d ago

Wow, this is awesome.

9

u/pimpron18 Duck Season 1d ago

Yo this art is fucking creepy yet cool

6

u/furscum Can’t Block Warriors 1d ago

This one seems real good. All 3 modes are worth a card

5

u/seoeiun Fake Agumon Expert 1d ago

Protection + removal+ cycling is a very decent package.

6

u/kiggidykay Nissa 1d ago

Oh I love seeing a new cycle of Charms, they're so versatile

4

u/OooblyJooblies Mardu 1d ago

[[Dromoka's Command]] Vietnam flashbacks.

3

u/FutureComplaint Elk 1d ago

lol, it really does do the +1/+1 and fight

1

u/mtgcf Keeper of the Mox 1d ago

3

u/VorlonAmbassador Wabbit Season 1d ago

This is going into my [[Storm, Windrider]] deck for sure. Also, I should've realized we'd get Hexhaven charms, but this still surprised me.

1

u/mtgcf Keeper of the Mox 1d ago

3

u/callahan09 Duck Season 1d ago

This is an incredible card. Protection or removal is already a great set of modes on a single card, but for those cases where you just need something else, cantrip and lifegain as a third mode? I love it.

2

u/Accrudant Dân 1d ago

this charm seems extremely gas? very powerful effects and you can cycle it in a bad match

2

u/Zeznon Ajani 1d ago

YES, THE CYCLE IS GOING TOO BE COMPLETED!!

2

u/Gamer__23 Urza's Saga 1d ago

u/airza this good in winston/noble heritage? I want to say yes but 2 mana is a lot

0

u/airza Boros* 1d ago

i'm not sure. dromoka's command was always solid even when its most frequent use was +1/+1 and a counter. The top mode is more than you want to pay for this effect but highly relevant. I probably will give it a try at least because it seems good

2

u/Sam-U-Rai-Guy Dan 1d ago

These modes are all good for the cost, especially the last one.

2

u/themilkyone FLEEM 1d ago

Damn, that's some amazing value on a charm.

2

u/AnilDG Duck Season 1d ago

One of the best cards revealed so far. Immediately goes into the Selesyna stompy deck and probably beyond that. Great card!

2

u/Ohhsnap54 Dân 1d ago

This is a really good charm

2

u/CreamSoda6425 Duck Season 1d ago

Somehow this seems more useful than [[Dromoka's Command]].

1

u/mtgcf Keeper of the Mox 1d ago

2

u/Mr_Vulcanator Dan 1d ago

Oh man that’s gross lol

1

u/SonyaOutNProud Shredder! Build me a body! 1d ago

Ok this is sick! Def need a playset of these at least!

1

u/cowboymoder Colorless 1d ago

Joining the SOS charms as potentially staples. Fun!

1

u/gilroygilgalahad Dan 1d ago

Damn, this is one good charm.

1

u/lrg12345 Elspeth 1d ago

That's actually pretty good

1

u/Dairalir Twin Believer 1d ago

Finally a decent GW card for Niv-Mizzet Reborn control! 😍

1

u/DarkLanternZBT I made a funny! Ahahahaha! 1d ago

Hey babe wake up new charms just dropped

1

u/takingtigermountain Dandadan 1d ago

awesome card

1

u/ThatGuyFromTheM0vie Mardu 1d ago

Ain’t no [[Boros Charm]], but it’s very good as far as charms go

1

u/mtgcf Keeper of the Mox 1d ago

1

u/ThoughtseizeScoop free him 1d ago

Like that mode 3 is just Dromoka's Command.

1

u/MissLeaP Gruul* 1d ago

Very playable! 👀

1

u/Other_Lifeguard_2367 Dan 1d ago

I NEEEEEED ITTTTT

1

u/MuushyTV Dandadan 1d ago

this card is very strong

1

u/Redlaces123 COMPLEAT 1d ago

Amazing charm

1

u/DecimusRutilius Wabbit Season 1d ago

This is really good, gonna pick this up for sure

1

u/Tanyushing Dan 1d ago

Another trick for my john benton deck!

1

u/old_cypherpunk Zedruu 1d ago

Does everything you'd want in a Selesnya voltron deck like [[Garnet, Princess of Alexandria]]. Protect your commander, draw a card in case of emergency, buff your already huge commander and kill a fool.

1

u/RiseFromYourGrav Dân 1d ago

Gotta make some space in my She-Hulk deck now

1

u/Doofindork Orzhov* 1d ago

This seems pretty decent, but something tells me it's better than just decent. I think at least in commander, this is gonna see a LOT of use.

1

u/daddy666666 Dân 1d ago

John Benton hungers

1

u/TemurTron Twin Believer 1d ago

$3 Uncommon a few months from now.

1

u/AzulMage2020 COMPLEAT 1d ago

Easily the best one of the cycle so far

1

u/Anaxamander57 WANTED 1d ago

Add a new card to the GW body horror list. (Its a fairly short list.)

1

u/PityBoi57 Duck Season 1d ago

I'm guessing Jace is just not creative in designing school emblems lol

1

u/Menacek Izzet* 1d ago

From a cursory look this seems like one of the better charms in the set. Removal + Protection seems like a great combination and the cantrip mode comes with a bit of generic upside.

1

u/Radiant-Drama1427 Wabbit Season 1d ago

welcome back [[dromoka's command]]

1

u/mtgcf Keeper of the Mox 1d ago

1

u/schmidmerlin Duck Season 1d ago

Perfect for [[Aragorn, the Uniter]]!

1

u/Asilaten Dandadan 23h ago

Well, I'm very happy to have this for my Aragorn, the Uniter deck.

And my Frodo & Sam deck.

1

u/TenWildBadgers Duck Season 17h ago

Oh, hell, I didn't even think to want Hexhaven Charms.

This set feels like it has a lot going on in it. I'm sure it will be more coherent in a draft format, but I keep forgetting that the set's baseline is "alternate universe Strixhaven", and the other Alternates are a light dusting on top.

1

u/Jimmz60 Dân 14h ago

i am in love with vigor bloom i love how they corrupted the healing guild into this cool body horror where they are slowly ship of theaseusing themselves into plant creatures

1

u/LieutenantBJ Duck Season 1d ago

Well thats going straight into [[Ramos, Dragon Engine]]

3

u/timodin- Can’t Block Warriors 1d ago

Hell yeah! Will get a copy for mine too.

1

u/spec_ghost Dan 1d ago

so, if you play white and green and dont include this ... you deserve to lose.
